Chapter 1 Are You Worthy of Being Called a System?

Yenching University – Job Fair

The street was packed with students. Beneath the rows of blue tents, recruiters from central enterprises, state-owned companies, and banks sifted through stacks of resumes, offering polite yet indifferent smiles.

"I'm sorry, you don't meet our requirements."

"Your major isn't a good fit for this position."

"Your internship experience is a bit lacking. We need candidates with at least six months in a similar role."

The recruiter sighed, clearly exhausted from rejecting applicant after applicant. Clicking his tongue, he glanced at the long line of hopeful students still waiting their turn.

So many graduates every year, but where are the jobs? I thought last year's acceptance rate was bad, but this year might set a new record!

"Hello, here's my resume."

"Alright." The recruiter took it casually but did a double take. "Your position says... CEO?"

"Is there a problem?"

"Well, yes!"

Suppressing the twitch at the corner of his mouth, the recruiter forced a polite smile. "Sorry, we don't have any openings for that position. Maybe try another company."

"Really?" Song Jiang sighed, leaning over the table and casting a large shadow over the recruiter. "How about you join my company instead? I'm in need of an HR manager."

"Huh?" The recruiter froze. His applicant was now trying to recruit him?

Blinking in disbelief, he asked, "Wait… you're hiring me?"

"Correct. Full marks for comprehension."

The recruiter wasn't sure whether to laugh or get annoyed. Thinking Song Jiang was just messing around, he waved a dismissive hand. "Student, this isn't the place for jokes. I'm busy."

"I'm not joking. Ever thought about switching companies? The benefits are fantastic!"

"Student!" The recruiter snapped, growing impatient. "Please don't interrupt the recruitment process. Next!"

Song Jiang was unceremoniously dismissed, left holding his thin resume as he walked away, bewildered.

"System, why don't we just shut this company down?"

[Host, please find employees as soon as possible!!]

"You really don't want to reconsider?"

[Host, please find employees as soon as possible!!]

"Alright, alright! Can't I at least take my time looking?"

Song Jiang let out a bitter laugh, remembering what had happened three days ago.

A cheerful ding had announced the arrival of the Big Entrepreneur System, making him think his time to shine had finally come.

Then he read the details.

Among 300+ regulations, only one concerned his salary:

[Founder salary = total employee salary * 1% + company profit * 1%]

One percent? What kind of cruel joke was this?!

If an employee made 5,000 yuan, he'd get 50!

Even in ancient times, exploitation wasn't this bad!

"What kind of scam system is this?!"

The system, as always, responded indifferently.

[The system will provide operational funds to cover 321 expenses, including rent, employee wages, welfare, construction, and production costs.]

[Enterprise funds are strictly for business use. They cannot be used for personal investments, theft, money laundering, or any other improper purposes.]

[As the company founder, the system grants you the ability to identify outstanding talent for free. Talent is rated from 1 to 5 stars, with high-star employees significantly contributing to business growth.]

[Host, please recruit your first employee as soon as possible! The official launch awaits!]

As the mechanical voice echoed in his mind, Song Jiang exhaled slowly. No matter how much he grumbled, the system did provide a sense of security.

Now the real challenge: How do I trick—uh, persuade—someone into joining my company?

Tapping his chin, Song Jiang had a sudden idea. Everyone else is faking it till they make it—why can't I?

A faint white light flickered in his eyes.

Actions speak louder than words!

Scanning the job fair, he spotted a deserted blue tent in the corner and immediately claimed it as his own. Setting down his resume, he frowned.

Too empty.

Borrowing a pen, some paper, and even a brochure from the neighboring booth, he arranged everything neatly.

A curious girl from the adjacent booth gave him a questioning look. Ignoring her, Song Jiang sat down and straightened his back.

There! Looks professional enough.

"Alright! Time to recruit!"

Soon, students approached out of curiosity.

"What positions are available?"

"Everything! Two days off a week, standard legal hours!"

"Company size?"

"Ha, we're a startup!"

The moment he said that, the students' expressions stiffened. Flashing polite smiles, they discreetly took back their resumes.

"Sorry, I have something else to do."

"Wait!" Song Jiang reached out, but all he could do was watch another applicant walk away with unwavering determination.

And it kept happening. The moment students heard "startup," their interest evaporated.

Worse, whispers spread.

"What kind of sketchy company recruits at Yenching?"

"Senior, I suggest you run—this company's doomed."

"He's recruiting alone? That's… kinda sad."

Some even tried to offer kind advice, but their words felt like daggers.

Two hours later, Song Jiang slumped over the table, utterly drained.

"They say job hunting is hard, but hiring is a nightmare!"

Just as the sun began setting and booths started packing up, a deep voice roused him from his exhaustion.

"Excuse me, are you still hiring?"

Blinking, Song Jiang looked up to see a middle-aged man in a suit, hesitantly holding out his resume.

"Huh?" Song Jiang snapped out of his daze.

"Aren't you the one recruiting me?" the man asked cautiously.

Song Jiang quickly scanned the resume and checked the system stats.

Name: Zhao Mingxuan

Age: 38

Star Rating: 2 stars

Traits: Ox and Horse, Time Management Master

Skills: Reporting (Lv. 1), Management (Lv. 6), Coordination (Lv. 3), Sales (Lv. 3)

Not bad!

"How much do you want?"

Zhao Mingxuan hesitated. "Uh… 7,000?" He lowballed himself, knowing he wasn't in a position to be picky.

Song Jiang frowned. "7,000?"

Zhao Mingxuan panicked. "Is that too much—"

"Are you kidding me?! How about 10,000?!"

"…10,000?!" Zhao Mingxuan thought he misheard.

Song Jiang began counting on his fingers. "You're in your thirties—probably married, kids, elderly parents, right? How can you live on 7,000? Add another 1,000 for your kids, another for your parents, and another for yourself."

Zhao Mingxuan was nearly moved to tears.

Before he could wipe his eyes, Song Jiang snapped his fingers.

[Congratulations! Your first employee has been recruited! Company funds unlocked!]

"Welcome to the team, Mr. Zhao. Our company's name is… Tengsheng."

[Company name set: Tengsheng Enterprise.]
