The vast hallway of the dome-shaped theater was filled with a buzzing crowd, all discussing the space show in hushed excitement. Among them, Riya walked beside Anu, her hands moving wildly as she talked, her enthusiasm spilling out in excited words.
"Did you see that moment when the galaxy just stretched out endlessly? It felt so real, Anu! Like I could just reach out and grab the stars," she gushed, her eyes still shimmering with awe.
Anu rolled her eyes with a fond smile. "Riya, you were literally gasping every two seconds. I thought you were going to cry when they showed the meteor shower."
Riya gasped dramatically. "Excuse me? It was breathtaking! I can't believe you weren't as amazed as I was!"
Laughing, Anu shook her head, pulling Riya forward as they made their way toward the exit. The crowd was thick, and people were moving slowly, making it hard to walk freely. Just as Riya turned to add another comment, she stepped back without looking,
And crashed into someone.
Hard.
Her balance wavered instantly, her body tilting backward as the world around her seemed to slow. But before she could even process what was happening, an arm wrapped around her waist, catching her effortlessly.
Warmth. A steady, firm grip. A presence that felt… unreal.
Her breath hitched as she found herself inches away from the man who had caught her.
And then, she saw him.
The first thing she noticed was his eyes... deep, dark, holding an intensity that sent an unexpected shiver down her spine. Midnight-black hair framed his sharp yet breathtakingly refined features. His presence was commanding, as if he belonged somewhere grander than this crowded theater. The dim golden lights reflected off his smooth skin, making him look almost like a Greek god... like he wasn't from this world at all.
For a moment, all she could do was stare.
His grip on her waist was firm but careful, as though he had barely exerted any effort to catch her. He smelled… different. Not like cologne or anything artificial, but something clean and crisp, like the night air before a storm.
Her heart pounded.
Her mind screamed at her to move, to say something, to stop staring like an idiot.
But then, he smirked.
A slow, knowing smirk that made something twist in her chest.
"I know that I'm handsome," the man said casually, his voice smooth, deep, and laced with amusement. "But if you don't mind, I'd like to pass."
His voice was like silk, effortlessly composed, as if this kind of attention was nothing new to him.
That was when it clicked.
This man… was Dhruv.
The one who had descended from the celestial realm. The one who had walked among the stars.
And she had just fallen into his arms like an idiot.
Heat rushed to her face as she scrambled to regain her footing. "I.... I'm so sorry!" she stammered, stepping back so quickly that she almost bumped into Anu.
Dhruv didn't say anything more. He simply gave her a glance, one that was unreadable, distant, yet somehow lingering, before turning away and walking into the crowd.
Riya stood frozen for a few seconds, still feeling the phantom warmth of his touch on her waist.
Anu grabbed her arm, eyes wide with mischief. "Oh. My. God. Riya, did you just... "
"Shut up," Riya whispered, her voice barely working.
Anu grinned. "No, seriously. Who was that? And why did he look like he was sculpted by the gods?"
Riya bit her lip, trying to steady her racing heart. "I… don't know."
And yet, for some reason, she felt like she was supposed to.
