My Little Kiss

The rooftop was still quiet, the wind gently ruffling their hair as Kikidori and Haruna sat side by side. The peacefulness was nice. No classes, no annoying bullies, no rules. Just them, sitting together, away from everything.

Then, for no real reason, they both turned to look at each other.

And just… stared.

It wasn't awkward. Not really. It was just one of those weird moments where the world seemed to slow down.

Haruna's ears twitched. "Hey, Kiki."

Kikidori raised an eyebrow. "What?"

She tilted her head. "Have you ever kissed anyone before?"

Kikidori blinked. "Huh? No. Why?"

She smirked. "Same."

He rolled his eyes. "I'm not surprised. You scare people away."

She gasped, dramatically clutching her chest. "How dare you?! I am adorable!"

"You're a menace."

"Menace, adorable, same thing," she said, flicking her tail.

Kikidori shook his head, but Haruna was still looking at him, her golden eyes glinting with mischief.

Then—without hesitation—she leaned in. "Wanna try it?"

Kikidori blinked again. "Try what?"

She grinned. "A kiss, dummy."

His brain short-circuited. "What?!"

Haruna laughed at his reaction. "Relax! It's just to see what it's like."

"That's not how this works!"

"Why not?"

"Because—!" Kikidori opened his mouth to argue… then paused.

Wait. Why not?

It wasn't like they were in love or anything. It was just a stupid kiss. Neither of them had done it before, and honestly… now he was kinda curious.

Haruna grinned, clearly reading his thoughts. "See? You do wanna try."

Kikidori groaned. "Fine. But if this is weird, I'm punching you."

She snickered. "Deal."

They turned to face each other properly, sitting up straight.

Then… they leaned in.

And immediately stopped.

Haruna frowned. "Wait, do we go left or right?"

Kikidori blinked. "Uh… I dunno."

They both tilted their heads the same way.

Then the other way.

Then back again.

Haruna huffed. "Okay, this is stupid. Just—stay still."

Kikidori sighed and held still as she leaned in again. Their lips almost touched—

Then she accidentally bumped noses with him.

"Ow—damn it," she muttered, rubbing her nose.

Kikidori sighed. "This is a disaster."

She giggled. "Okay, okay, for real this time."

Finally, after a solid twenty seconds of struggling, they got it right.

Their lips met.

It was… underwhelming.

Not bad. Not amazing. Just a kiss.

They stayed like that for a moment before pulling back.

Silence.

Then—

Haruna snorted. "That was it?!"

Kikidori wiped his mouth with his sleeve. "That's what people freak out about?!"

Haruna laughed. "Damn. I thought there'd be, like… fireworks or something."

Kikidori rolled his eyes. "Yeah, well, clearly we suck at this."

She smirked. "Wanna try again?"

"No."

She giggled, flicking his forehead. "You're so fun to mess with."

Kikidori sighed, shaking his head. "Well. That happened."

Haruna grinned. "Yup. And now we can say we did it."

"Great. Life-changing experience."

She laughed, nudging his shoulder. "Admit it. You love having me around."

Kikidori groaned. "Shut up."

But even as they sat there, bickering like usual, he couldn't help but think—

That was the dumbest first kiss ever.
