In Bed With A Stranger

Eva's POV

The pounding in my head instantly made me regret drinking so much. I groaned, sitting upright so I could take a good look at my surroundings. The room did not immediately appear familiar through the haze of my confusion.

Racking my brain, I tried to remember how I got here. The last thing I remembered was getting rejected by Alpha Trent. The memory of the rejection was like a punch in the guts. The searing the pain that followed was now like an itch in my back that I couldn't get rid of.

The memory after the rejection was hazy, blurry and jumbled together. I plopped back into bed, groaning even more as the pain in my head intensified even more. Rolling over, I recoiled, almost screaming in horror when my body collided with a very naked male.

"Alpha Trent?" I gasped, my hand flying to my mouth as if that was going to make the horror of this situation even less daunting.

"What the hell?" I said under my breath, raising the covers draped over me to find that I was also naked and the slight discomfort between my thighs , which I was only now aware of, made me painfully realize the fact that I may have just very foolishly lost my virginity to the same man who rejected me only a few hours ago.

And I had absolutely no memory of it.

Of all the people this had to happen with, did it have to be him?

I groaned again, quieter this time, burying my face in my palm. My phone ringing tone shattered the silence, causing Alpha Trent to stir in his sleep. I dove to retrieve it, swiping the answer button several times before it finally answered.

Cringing, I stole a glance at Alpha Trent who was still fast asleep before heaving a sigh of relief.

"Hello?' I whispered, pulling the covers with me as I left the bed and made for the bathroom.

"Where the hell are you?" My sister Edna's voice blasted through the speaker, stinging my ear drums. "Father is extremely upset that you are not in your room this morning. Wait till I inform him that you spent the night outside."

Shit!

"I - I'll be home soon. Can you stall for me?" knowing my sister, I knew my request was like asking her to soak her fingers in burning larvae but I hoped she'll grow a conscience today.

I hated to think what my father will do if he found out I had spent the night outside our home. An image of his impassive face sprung in my vision and I cringed.

"Edna?" I called into the phone, listening to her voice. "Edna, please, help me out just this once."

"Where are you? Did you find your mate at the ceremony? Is that why you slept out?" she asked.

I glanced at the door, beyond it was the man who coldly rejected me yesterday, tearing apart our bond and choosing my best friend as his mate. Did I have him? I found it hard to believe that our situation was anything but coincidence.

I gripped the phone tighter. "Yes." I lied. It was going to be easier if my father thought I met my mate during the ceremony, he'll know I had no other choice but to stay out late, nursing our bond.

But Edna had always been able to pick out my lies, even when we were several miles apart.

"Shut it." She said harshly. "The news of your rejection already reached father's ears. You better get here soon before he becomes even more mad than he already is. You just know how to kill joy for everyone." she hung up.

By the time I got home, I knew I would be dead meat.

Securing the covers around my chest, I opened the door slowly, tiptoeing back into the bedroom and began picking my clothes off the floor and putting them on. Next, I tried to fix what was left of my makeup and hair.

Satisfied with my reflection in the mirror, I stole one last glace at Alpha Trent before scooping up my shoes and bag and tiptoeing out of the room, only to crash straight into a solid chest.

Strong arms slipped around my waist preventing me from falling to the ground and steadying my feet. Once I was balanced, I took a step back, lowering my head to apologize when the door behind me groaned open.

I froze, my heart stilling for a minute. Shit.

"Alpha Trent." The man who I had collided with greeted. "You're awake. I was just coming to get you. We have urgent pack -"

I toned the rest of the words out, clutching my shoes tight, I began tiptoeing away, hoping I'd be miles away from here before either of them noticed I was gone. But I did not have such luck.

"Who are you and why are you here?" Alpha Trent's voice drifted into my ears. I froze again, the hair on the back of my neck rising. "I'm speaking to you."

"Oh, I found her yesterday and brought her here." The man I had collided with said, I still couldn't bring myself to look and see his face but I was grateful he came to my rescue. "She was just leaving."

"Is that so?" Alpha Trent asked. I felt him move towards me and hunched my hack, burying my face in my long hair. "Eva?" he said, before I felt his hand on my shoulder and he shoved me, turning me to face him.

My heart fell, and so did my shoes and clutch. "Alpha Trent." I said flatly. "I was just leaving."

His brows creased together as he looked me up and down, then his jaw clenched. "What are you doing coming out of my room?" his eyes strayed to my bag on the ground. "Did you steal anything from me?"

The man whom I had collided into - who I now saw to be Henry, Alpha Trent's beta - stepped between us. "Alpha Trent, this isn't your room. This is the guest lounge. Your room is up there." he pointed to the ceiling.

"What?" Alpha Trent gawked.

"Cassandra said she saw you coming down here yesterday, so I came here to look for you. Did you sleep in the same room as her?"

Alpha Trent glanced at me and I looked away. My face was probably beat red from embarrassment. Does he have any recollection of what might have happened between us? If he mistook the guest lounge for his floor, then that must mean he was drunk as well.

I grabbed my shoes again, turning towards beta Henry. "Thank you for taking care of me yesterday, but I must leave now. My father must be worried sick."

Beta Henry stepped towards me, grabbing my hand. "Don't worry about that, I will drive you home and explain things to your father. All of this was a misunderstanding and it's my fault you did not go home yesterday."

I glanced at Alpha Trent who had not said a word since this begun. Before I had the chance to refuse beta Henry's offer, he pulled me with him, not letting go of me till we were inside his car.
