Pregnancy

Eva's POV

Three Weeks Later

"Your daughter is pregnant."

My heart sank into my stomach at those words. No, no, no, it can't be. I couldn't be… but the evidence of my mistake was right there, sitting in my father's trembling hands as he read the words over and over again.

"It is wrong," he said finally, flinging the paper back at the nurse. "My daughter cannot be pregnant. She was rejected by her mate, shamefully."

I shrunk back into the chair, trying to hide the embarrassment and shame I felt. My father was an angry man, especially when it concerned me, but I had never seen him as angry as he was three weeks ago when he found out the mate who had rejected me was none other than Alpha Trent.

If he could, he would have strangled me to death right there. And now, I was pregnant? I was mate-less, a stain in my family's legacy, and now pregnant out of wedlock. If my father did not accept the child, then I'd become a rogue.

He didn't look like he was ready to accept anything that came out of me.

"Rerun the damn test!" he screeched, startling everyone in the room, including the nurse who picked up the paper he had flung at her with shaking hands and fled out of the room.

When the nurse returned again, she came with more papers and a stern looking older woman who did not spare me a glance. "Elder," the older woman said with a placating voice. "I'm afraid the results of all the tests are the same. Your daughter is indeed three weeks pregnant."

"My daughter is not a rogue." My father growled. "She knows better than to have affairs with anyone who isn't her fated mate." although he wasn't looking at me as he spoke, I could feel the wrath of his anger seeping into my skin.

"But, the results are final." the woman maintained. "Your daughter…"

"She is no daughter of mine!" My father growled, turning to face me. "Not anymore. You will not shame me like this, not after what you have put me through."

I stared wide-eyed at him, what was he saying? Was he abandoning me? I reached out to him, my heart breaking even more when he flinched away from me.

The older woman stepped forward, keeping her gaze strictly on my father. "We can get rid of it." she offered. "It isn't too far gone and that will save her the shame when people start to find out, because no one ever will."

Why the hell was she speaking as if she was trying to convince him to buy groceries? She was talking about a fucking life.

My father nodded absently. "Good. If that is an option, then do it. Just make sure it stays between us."

The older woman nodded once before turning to face me. Vaguely, I recalled my mouth hanging open at the words my father just uttered, what the hell was he agreeing to? Aborting a child meant going against the moon goddess.

And this wasn't just any child, it was…

"I can't do that." I said firmly, tilting my chin up to appear confident, even though my insides felt like jelly. "I can't let you do that to my child."

My father's furious expression landed on me, burning whatever courage I had managed to gather away. 'What did you say? You will not do what? Do you know the shame you bring to me? Every day I try to make you nearly as perfect as your sister but yet…" he paused. "You will do as I say, you have no choice. If you don't then I will disown you and that bastard that you carry."

I touched my stomach lightly, tears rolling down my cheeks. "Please father, I will do every other thing you want, just not this. This child… this child belongs to Alpha Trent."

The older woman stepped back, her face contorting into an expression I could barely read. I focused on my father, hoping my words struck something in him.

"Who are you pregnant for?" My father asked.

"Alpha Trent, father."

"How are you carrying his child? He rejected you." he said coldly, looking at me with disbelief.

"I swear father, this is his child. He… we - it happened somehow. On the night of the mating ceremony." the same night he rejected me, I wanted to add.

My father stepped forward, making sure I felt the power radiating from him. "If you are lying to me. I will kill you with my own hands. Do you understand?"

I nodded my head vigorously. "I'm not lying." I whispered. "I'm not." He was the only one in the room when I woke up and we had both been naked. There was no other plausible explanation for it.

My father growled, turning on his heels and glaring at me. I could see that he was struggle you keep his wolf in control, he was that mad, his body trembling from the sheer effort it took to keep it together.

We drove straight to the pack house after that. My father did not want me to waste any more time with a bastard child, or waste any time with me if it turned out that the child wasn't Alpha Trent's and I still insisted on keeping it.

The Pack house was full to the brim by the time we arrived, it always was, but Alpha Trent was kind enough to give us room in his office. He respected my father, as head of the pack council and his former beta of the pack, it was to be expected, too bad that respect did not extend towards me.

"You said it was urgent? Alpha Trent asked, keeping his eyes centered on my father.

My father nodded, glancing at the other people in the room, one of them was Cassandra who was sneering at me. It was still hard to believe she did this to me and hated me this much.

She was always so kind and loving and jovial. Always there to protect me when I was being bullied by my sister or when my father shunned me for not living up to expectations.

"Can we discuss this with less people in the room?" my father asked, pulling me from the depths of my mind. "I'm afraid this is a very delicate subject."

Alpha Trent nodded at his beta and then Cassandra. Beta Henry left immediately, but Cassandra made sure to take her time, glaring at me as she exited the door.

Once the door shut firmly behind her, my father sat up. "I am aware that you rejected the mate bond you have with my daughter and I will not fault you for that," my father began. "Eva has a lot of shortcomings despite my best efforts to groom her the right way."

Alpha Trent said nothing, his passive expression gave nothing away either. I, on the other hand was a bundle of nerves and fear. My wolf being conveniently absent through all this made everything even worse.

"My daughter is pregnant, and she insists that the person responsible for that, is you, Alpha."

For a brief minute, Alpha Trent looked at me, then through me. His jaw flexed and his hand on the table clenched into fist.

When he spoke, his voice was as cold as ice and his emotions were completely detached. "What she claims, is false." he said. "I rejected your daughter on the night of the ceremony, why will I have anything to do with her after that? I am not responsible for the child she is carrying and will take no responsible for it."

With that, he stood to his feet, signaling that the conversation was over. My father stood to his feet as well. When his eyes met mine, I saw his rejection in them. My father was rejecting me only three weeks after my mate rejected me.
