Chapter 14: Drenching Medusa and Seizing the Green Lotus Core Flame

Medusa's graceful snake tail swept through the magma, allowing her body to dart forward like a small fish in a lake. She rushed toward the area covered by that emerald glow. As Queen Medusa moved closer to this lotus platform, she could clearly sense the surrounding temperature spike sharply.

Fortunately, her guardian spirit Wu Tian had just given her another "pssh" of Ice Cold Spring water and this time, he used plenty so she wasn't unbearably hot. Medusa licked her dry lips and dove into the circle of emerald light. It wasn't a barrier; it was just the glow's illuminated area.

Once Medusa's body entered the green glow, she felt exactly what Wu Tian had predicted a heat significantly lower than what she had experienced outside. As she drew nearer, the scene within that glowing lotus came into focus. In the midst of the lotus's radiance sat a small lotus platform of about two or three feet in size. Some tiny holes in the platform emitted specks of fluorescence, most likely lotus seeds formed from the purest fire element energy.

Underneath the green lotus was an extremely long, thin stem, at least ten meters in length, covered in dense, playful filaments. As these filaments swayed, one could distinctly sense them ravenously absorbing the violent fire energy in the magma around them like greedy little suckers. The green lotus simply floated there in the endless magma, much like a piece of duckweed drifting in the sea.

"Medusa, be careful. Don't let those filaments touch you. Otherwise, they'll instantly drain half your battle aura," Wu Tian, as her guardian spirit, warned her urgently.

Gazing at the lotus before him, Wu Tian sighed. "Judging by its shape, this lotus has clearly endured over a thousand years. It's surprising how a thousand years can seem to pass in the blink of an eye."

Whether Medusa believed him or not, Wu Tian certainly believed himself. As a guardian spirit, it was only natural for him to maintain a sense of awe and gravitas!

Even as the Queen of the Snake People, Medusa couldn't hide her excitement. After all, this was a Heavenly Flame that could help her complete her evolution! The closer she got, the more she appreciated how wonderfully crafted the green lotus was something that only time could produce.

(Of course, in Wu Tian's words, it was "nature's way of 'cultivating'" such a perfect fiery lotus.)

Medusa carefully avoided those root filaments and quickly arrived above the green lotus. She peered into the heart of the flower. On the lotus platform, a cluster of green flames was slowly rising and falling. The flame was full of life; whenever it flickered, it might take the shape of a lotus flower one moment, then form a tiny green flaming serpent the next, hovering above the lotus platform with a calm, adorable demeanor.

This was the Green Lotus Core Flame. The playful little flame brought a delighted smile to Medusa's face. Her aura surged powerfully, as though she were about to attempt some grand "Queen seizes the Heavenly Flame" move. Naturally, her guardian spirit Wu Tian couldn't let her do that blindly.

Wu Tian quickly stopped her. "Wait, Medusa. You can't just grab a Heavenly Flame like that, or you'll end up seriously hurt!"

"Guardian spirit, do you have a plan?"

Medusa paused. Her violet eyes fixed on Wu Tian, who had just drifted out so suddenly, in fact, that she hadn't even noticed exactly when he emerged, thanks to her own excitement.

Wu Tian answered with a look of deep wisdom. "Indeed, I do."

He retrieved from his storage ring the Ice Lotus Platform, the one that used to float on the pool of the Ice Cold Spring. With the appearance of that Ice Lotus Platform, a wave of chilling energy spread through the space.

"The Ice Lotus Platform?" Medusa said in surprise.

Wu Tian nodded calmly. "Yes. My storage ring always had the Ice Lotus Platform and the Ice Cold Spring. But without the energy and with my lost memories I'd basically forgotten I had them!"

Medusa batted her long eyelashes, as though teasing Wu Tian's heart. "…Guardian spirit, you really are getting old and forgetful!"

"… …"

"Medusa," Wu Tian said, "in a moment, I'll douse your body with Ice Cold Spring water. The instant you're soaked, seize the opportunity to transfer the Green Lotus Core Flame onto the Ice Lotus Platform!" His expression was solemn.

Medusa nodded. She understood at once. Still, how exactly was he going to soak her? In the next moment, her question was answered. Indeed, this guardian spirit of hers knew exactly what he was doing!

Just as before, Wu Tian raised his arm. From that ancient looking Husha Treasure ring, a torrent of Ice Cold Spring water gushed out like a small waterfall. This time, his drifting figure circled around Medusa's body, bathing her with the Ice Cold Spring in a complete 360 degree rinse!

In just an instant, Queen Medusa found herself drenched from head to tail in Wu Tian's Ice Cold Spring. Her glossy, ebony hair clung to her alluring face, and the cool water trickled down her cheeks, across her smooth white skin, threaded through the valley between her peaks, and all the way to the tip of her snake tail. Her once fiery figure was now coated in a thin layer of frost, transforming her into a captivating ice sculpted beauty.

The scene looked breathtaking, so mesmerizing it could steal a person's soul. Wu Tian couldn't help swallowing a bit of greedy saliva. Inwardly, he sighed: "The waterfall plummets three thousand feet could this be the Silver River pouring down from the heavens?"

Well… in this case, it was more like Wu Tian pouring down on Medusa!

Medusa was momentarily dazed but had no time to dwell on her guardian spirit's unusual behavior. She seized the moment, reached out her jade white hand, and grabbed for the Green Lotus Core Flame. The flame instantly sensed danger and erupted with a surge of violent fire energy, utterly unlike its earlier gentle aura.

In that split second, though Medusa had been soaked in Ice Cold Spring water, she still felt an overwhelming heat. She sensed that in the next moment her body might be scorched dry, which would leave her gravely injured. Right at this critical juncture, Wu Tian appeared directly above Queen Medusa and let loose a tremendous downpour of Ice Cold Spring water from his Husha Treasure ring, as though money were no object.

Compared to the steady stream from before, this time it was a fierce torrent a torrential rain. Thanks to that, Medusa succeeded in grabbing hold of the Green Lotus Core Flame. In a flash, the tiny green fire serpent ended up on the Ice Lotus Platform Wu Tian had prepared in advance, and with lightning speed, Wu Tian stored the Ice Lotus Platform back into his Husha Treasure ring.

His super grade Husha Treasure ring could take in everything except living humans. Even with a certain level of awareness, the Green Lotus Core Flame was still classified as an object of fire, which meant it was fair game for storage. Wu Tian's consciousness peered into the Husha Treasure space, where the Ice Lotus Platform now floated above the Ice Cold Spring pool. A white energy shield appeared, confining the Green Lotus Core Flame. Whenever it struggled, trying to escape, the shield bounced it back, and a bit of the Ice Cold Spring water was used up each time.

Wu Tian then withdrew his consciousness and flashed Medusa a smile of relief. "Medusa, we did it!"

Medusa's lips curled up slightly. Licking her crimson lips in a most enticing way, she said, "Guardian spirit, when do you think you'll be able to solidify yourself so this Queen can properly reward you?"

Wu Tian: …Is she laying a trap for this wolf here?
