Chapter 25: Yun Yun Retreats, Expanding Territory
Jia Xing Tian usually had a spirited image, but at this moment, he resembled smoked cured meat, his clothes reduced to ashes, revealing his true form. He looked like a charred sausage, utterly blackened with all his hair gone, leaving him in utter disarray. This was only because Jia Xing Tian, relying on his formidable strength, had managed to withstand Wu Tian's celestial fire. If not for his defenses, his fate would have been no better than his clothes reduced to dust.
After escaping the range of Wu Tian's fire attack, Jia Xing Tian didn't pause or look back; he fled straight away. Clearly, his injuries were not life threatening, or he wouldn't have been able to flee so swiftly. Although Wu Tian's attack hadn't endangered his life, it had inflicted a great insult. As a revered elder of the Jia Ma Empire, regarded almost as a living fossil, his dignity was severely tarnished. This incident would mark a dark stain in his life, one he described as utterly humiliating.
Jia Xing Tian's retreat effectively declared the outcome of the battle between the Jia Ma Empire and the Snake People. The empire was now left with only Yun Yun, a three star Dou Huang, whereas the Snake People had Wu Tian, a Dou Huang pinnacle powerhouse. The disparity in strength was clear without the need for further conflict. Jia Xing Tian was stronger than Yun Yun, yet even he was no match for Wu Tian, let alone Yun Yun.
Imagining Yun Yun also getting burned brought an exciting thrill. Wu Tian, smiling at Yun Yun from afar, playfully taunted, "Sect Master Yun, would you like to feel the fervent heat of my celestial fire as well? However, I can't guarantee what you'll turn into."
Yun Yun, filled with trepidation at Wu Tian's formidable strength and the terrifying power of his celestial fire, guessed that his combat power was sufficient to challenge even a Dou Zong. She knew that the cyan lotus he had used was merely a form of the Green Lotus Core Flame, which Wu Tian could shape at will.
The devastating explosion was merely a casual strike from Wu Tian; had he used his full power, he could have annihilated everyone present, including the Snake People.
Yun Yun realized that Wu Tian's remark was a way for her to gracefully retreat. Despite the retreat being a bitter pill to swallow, she had to take it. Too many lives from the Jia Ma Empire were at stake. She understood that even amidst intense internal conflicts, facing an external threat would necessitate a united front.
Yun Yun formally bowed, acknowledging Wu Tian's superior strength. "Guardian Elder's power is truly formidable, far beyond my own. All forces, retreat!"
Following her command, the Jia Ma Empire's forces withdrew like the tide, and Wu Tian did not pursue. He knew better than to push too far. His strength was immense, but should Yun Shan, hiding in the shadows, emerge particularly with the terrifying Wu Hou from the Hall of Souls lurking Wu Tian might have found himself outmatched.
Yun Shan was currently in seclusion, preparing to break through to become a Dou Zong, and Wu Hou had assured him, "Hehehe~ Focus on your breakthrough, Yun Shan. Let no external affairs distract you. I shall ensure the Yun Lan Sect's survival."
Back at the battlefield, Wu Tian watched Yun Yun lead the retreat. Behind him, the three great elders of the Snake People kept their mouths wisely shut. They might have wondered why Wu Tian did not seize the chance to annihilate their foes, but after witnessing the previous events, they seemed to understand that some strategies were beyond their grasp.
Wu Tian, without turning, declared, "To endure in the long run, we cannot strip the Jia Ma Empire of its power, not with our current strength. However, it is time to expand our territory..."
He then proclaimed loudly, "From tomorrow, the cities surrounding the Tagore Desert will come under the control of the Snake People. Any resistance will be met with death!"
This statement served as both a directive to the Snake People and a declaration of war to the Jia Ma Empire. The leaders atop their monstrous mounts turned pale, their expressions as constipated as ever, powerless against the Snake People. Even Jia Xing Tian, a seasoned Dou Huang pinnacle, had failed to withstand Wu Tian's fiery might. Others, less powerful, stood no chance.
Their last hope lay with the Ice Emperor, Hai Bo Dong.
Hai Bo Dong, now dubbed the Slave King, thought, "The throne is mine!"
