Chapter 7

Xavion didn't have the patience to read through these documents. He only knew that his mother wouldn't let him get the short end of the stick, so he simply picked up the pen and signed the papers.

As he finished the last stroke, Mrs. Winters visibly breathed a sigh of relief, her face breaking into a smile.

"That's settled then. A weight has finally been lifted off my chest. Once you get the divorce certificate in a month, I'll truly be at ease. We'll have to throw a proper celebration then, to mark your freedom from that jinx!"

Xavion stood there, dumbfounded, forcing an awkward smile.

"What divorce certificate? What are you talking about?"

He leaned in closer, the words 'divorce agreement' looming large before his eyes. Looking further down, he saw Serenity's name alongside his own, glaringly obvious.

He snatched the agreement, crumpled it into a ball, and tossed it into the trash can.

His expression was filled with impatience.
