Chapter 7

Almost anything she wanted, I would strive with all my might to give her the very best.

In the end, I took only two changes of clothes and clutched Sunshine's urn.

Then, without looking back, I left home.

Sunshine had once said she most wanted to go to the seaside, to be a free and carefree fish.

On a night when the moon was like water, I boarded a train bound for the coast alone.

"Sunshine, Daddy will definitely help you fulfill your wish."

"Even if this is all the time I have left."

Amidst the rumbling of the train, I arrived at the shore.

Smiling, I unfolded the critical condition notice, letting the waves carry away those desperate words.

"Sunshine, Daddy has brought you to see the ocean."

"Are you lonely over there?"

"Wait a little longer. Soon, Daddy will come to keep you company."

I stayed by the sea for a week. During this week, my ears finally found some peace.

No one was berating me, and there was no work demanding my utmost dedication.
