Chapter 6:Strange urn

Ana's master was indeed a strange person. What did he mean by raising his daughter?

Why would I want to do that? He laughed for some reason, and his gaze returned to the crystal urn.

His tone was much softer, "Little brother, this deal is already very cost-effective. Think about it: I save the lives of three people in your family, and you only have to raise my daughter for ten years.

Where else in the world can you find such a good deal?"

This deal does sound like a good deal, but he didn't explain it clearly, and I just feel suspicious. I said, "You should explain it clearly first, otherwise I won't have a peace of mind."

He shook his head and said, "There are many things that ordinary people don't need to know. If you know, you will be scared. You just need to agree. If I want to harm you, you would have died long ago."

His tone was indifferent, as if he was still threatening me, but I felt that he wasn't threatening me.

I thought for a moment and said, "I'll think about it first, and you'll have to wait for my reply." He nodded a little, and I walked straight out without him paying any attention to me.

Ana was pacing nervously outside, and as soon as I came out she asked me what the situation was.

I said that your master really was a bit strange, and that he had made me raise his daughter as a condition for saving my family.

Ana's face changed colour: "What? His daughter?" I said, "Yes, it's really weird."

Ana frowned and muttered to herself, "I knew it, I guessed it had something to do with his daughter. He obviously loved me so much back then, but he wanted to harm me..."

I said, 'What do you mean harm you?' Ana didn't hide it either, lowering her voice, "Back then, my master's personality changed drastically, he was almost crazy, and I almost got killed by him. I suspected at the time that it had something to do with his daughter, and now that he's brought up his daughter again, he'll probably want to harm you too."

I was confused and asked where his daughter was. Ana said she didn't know, as if she had vanished into thin air, which was really strange.

My mind was in a mess, and I asked if I should agree to his terms. Ana was silent, and I was also lost for words. On the one hand, my family of four was about to be victimized, but on the other hand, there were strange demands and a strange daughter.

After pondering for a long time, I made up my mind: "Your master said that I have to raise her daughter for ten years, so I can still live for at least ten years, but the lives of my family members only have two days left..."

There was no choice at all. A normal person would choose ten years. In fact, I had already agreed to Ana's master's condition in my heart. Ana paced around with her hands in her pockets in distress. I said that this was the only way, so don't worry, we will all be fine.

After I finished speaking, I went back to the broken house. Ana's master was wiping a picture frame, looking kind and gentle. I took a look, and there was a man and a woman in the frame. The man should be him, and the woman is a girl in her twenties, very elegant, with a sense of wonder.

This is his daughter? But where is she?

I coughed softly, and Ana's master put the picture frame away. "Have you decided?"

I said that I was decided. I can keep your daughter for ten years, but you must promise to save my family.

I was bluffing, I didn't actually have any cards to bargain with. He just smiled, then took out a bowl from nowhere.

The bowl was made of bronze and looked very old. He tapped it lightly, and it gave off a tremolo sound.

I looked at him in puzzlement, and he placed the tombstone nail I had given him earlier directly into the copper bowl. Then he took out a small knife, cut his index finger and began to bleed into the copper bowl.

I was startled and said, "What are you doing?" He casually said, "Helping you. This tombstone nail is a very important thing, and you need to use blood... Hey, you wouldn't understand if I explained it to you, just do as I say."

I also felt that the tomb nail was very important, so I didn't make a fuss since he said so. But after a while, he also told me to cut my finger and drip blood into the copper bowl.

I gritted my teeth and did it, not knowing how much blood I had lost, until finally the tomb nail was completely covered in blood.

The blood of the two of them was also mixed together, and Ana's master even sniffed it, seemingly quite satisfied. Then he placed the copper bowl next to the urn and waved at me again, signaling for me to go out.

I went out full of doubts and heard him start to mutter something.

But I didn't dare to stay and eavesdrop and peek, because his face was so solemn that it made people behave properly.

So I went out again, and Ana looked at me nervously. I forced a smile: "I agreed, and he seems to have started... performing the ritual, like a cult ritual, which is a bit scary."

Ana coughed nervously and said, "My master is an orthodox Chinese Taoist priest. He used to be very righteous, but now he's like an evil spirit. I really don't know what's wrong with him."

It must have something to do with his daughter. I'm an outsider, so I can't figure it out. I just said, "Whatever, as long as he can save my family, I don't care if he's a Taoist priest or an evil spirit."

Ana didn't know what to do either. After all, she was also targeted, and her master was helping me, which was also helping her.

The two of them stood outside waiting. I didn't know how long the "cult ritual" would take, so I could only wait.

In the meantime, I kept looking at the broken house. There wasn't the slightest bit of movement there. Then I suddenly noticed that the garbage bag on the ground moved. Was it windy?

I was very startled because there was no wind at all. How did the garbage bag and other things in the broken house float a little? Was it windy just in that place?

This was really weird, there was something indescribably strange about it. I rubbed my eyes and looked again, and instantly took a frightened step back. There was a woman standing in front of the broken house, half her body hidden behind the door, half her body exposed as she looked at me, like a corpse standing upright.

My scalp suddenly went numb, and after blinking I looked again. Where was the woman?

Ana frowned and asked me, "What's wrong?" I gave a dry laugh and rubbed my chest, saying, "Nothing, I just saw someone there by mistake."

I wiped the cold sweat that had appeared and waited for a while. Ana's master appeared, standing weakly by the door and waving at me, "It's okay, you can come in."

I went in with a stiff upper lip and deliberately surveyed the room, looking everywhere, but there was no woman. There was no way there was a woman hiding under the bed.

"What are you looking at? Listen to me carefully," Ana's master said, and I quickly looked away. He took a breath and let it out gently, then pointed at the urn: "You must carry this urn with you at all times, and every night at midnight, you must drip one drop of blood from your index finger onto it. Remember, you must wait ten minutes before you can put the urn away, and during those ten minutes, you must not peek to see what is happening inside the urn, or you will suffer the consequences."

I nodded in agreement when I heard how serious he sounded, but I was full of doubts and couldn't help but ask, "You keep talking about your daughter. Where is she? What is she..."

"She is human!"

Before I could finish my sentence, he interrupted me as if I had hit a sore spot, and he even stared at me fiercely, his face twisting a little.

I was so startled that I took two steps back. He was suddenly very intimidating, his eyes like those of a vicious animal.

I hurriedly apologized, and he lowered his head for a long time without saying a word, then looked at the urn again and began to calm down.

I looked at the urn, which was nothing special, but the blood in the bronze bowl next to it and the tomb nail were gone.

I didn't dare to ask any more questions, and he spoke up: "My daughter is not a ghost or a monster.

Don't ask any more questions. It's useless for you to know now. Anyway, I've taken care of everything for you. At midnight on the seventh day, I will go find the person who practiced black magic. Now you take the urn and my letter and go to Linshey Town to find a man named Finhas. He will know what to do after reading the letter."

He said this and took a letter out of his pocket. The letter was crumpled, like a piece of paper you've used to wipe your bottom, and it wasn't sealed, as if he'd written it in a hurry.

I took the letter and looked curiously at the seal. He frowned and said, "You can't read this letter, only Finhas can. If you insist on reading it, I can't help you, and you'll be responsible for any mess you make."

After he said that, how dare I read it, I quickly put it away.

Then he took out two black cloths, one of which was smaller and wrapped the urn. He then handed it to me.

I took it, but he refused to let go, and after petting it a few times, he let go with a sigh.

This crystal urn is very heavy, and I don't know what's inside.

He refused to say, and wrapped the rest of the urns in black cloth. He muttered to himself, "Children, you will be free soon."

Was he talking to the urn?

I felt that it was really strange. Can I go now? He nodded and once again told me, "Remember what I said, you must feed the urn at midnight, and no matter what happens, you must not open the urn. Now go find Finhas, he will tell you what to do next. If you make a mistake, no one can save you, and your family will die."

I made it clear that I understood, and he didn't say anything else. He waved his hand and let me go.

I left holding the urn. Ana looked relieved when she saw me come out and ran over to ask, "Is it done?"

I said it was done, that a deal had been struck and your master had given me an urn.

Ana looked at the urn and took two hasty steps back, "My master used to talk to this thing all the time. It's so evil, you better be careful."

I knew this thing was evil, but I couldn't disobey her master's words. I couldn't just smash it, after all.
