When they got home, Diego refused to let her walk; he carried her to her room. "Drop me, Diego—people are watching. I don't want to complicate the situation!" she screamed as she hit his back. But he didn't even answer her. Immediately, Ms. Rose saw him and ran to get help. They quickly opened the door. Ms. Rose, the eldest assistant on the Orlov estate, had raised Diego Orlov after his mother abandoned him and left his father for someone richer. To this day, no one knows if Diego Orlov's mother, Ms. Sarah Orlov, is still alive. People stared at them, whispering among themselves as Diego carried her to her room. Once he dropped her on her bed, she tried to speak, but he quickly shut her up. "Shhh... blabber mouth, do not say a word," he ordered. This made Jane remain silent, silently watching him as if she were speaking in her mind. She observed his every move.
Diego then left the room and returned with a first aid kit while Mr. Leo ran after him. "Let me take care of her wounds," Mr. Leo, the Orlov estate's personal worker who spent four hours a day there treating anyone who fell ill, offered. "Allow me," he said. But Diego raised his hand to refuse. "No, she is my responsibility. I made a promise, and I must fulfill it." Mr. Leo tried to argue, but Diego glared at him and immediately left Jane and her alone.
As Diego came closer to Jane, he heard another knock. Annoyed, he demanded, "Who's there?" It was Ms. Rose, who asked if they needed any further assistance. Diego snapped, "No, if I need you, I will call you." Muttering under his breath about the lack of peace in the house, he raised his eyes and found Jane staring at him. "What? Why are you looking at me?" he asked. Jane remained silent, mouthing words without sound. Frustrated, Diego said, "What's wrong with you? Are you hurt somewhere else?" But Jane continued to refuse speech. In frustration, Diego stood up. "Why are you keeping quiet? I drove everyone out for a moment with you, and now you won't say a word!" Jane did not respond. Instead, she pulled a piece of paper from her bag, picked up a pen, and wrote, "You said I shouldn't say anything, and you are my boss, so I'm respecting my boss." Diego read her words with exasperation and thought, Oh my God, why is she so stubborn? He then declared, "If you don't open your mouth, I will kiss the words out of it." That was enough to spur her into speaking. "You are not serious! I already have a scandal going on, and you want to add to it. Come on, Mr. Orlov," she teased.
Jane felt something for Diego but wasn't sure if it was a crush, partly because she was scared to trust again and felt it was too soon to open her heart. As she stared at him, Diego busied himself cleaning her wounds, removing what Dante had used for her. "Why are you removing it? Dante already fixed it. So what are you doing now?" she asked in surprise. But Diego was adamant. "I wasn't the one who did this, so why should I allow you to have a bandage on your leg that wasn't applied by me? I don't want you thinking about anyone else but your job." Jane tried to use his concern as an excuse, but she quickly dismissed him. "Dante is nice, and I don't want to hurt his feelings when he sees a different bandage," she retorted. Deep down, though, she liked how he cared for her, the way he carried her. "Why would you even compliment Dante? Do you want me to fire him?" he teased. Before she could get another word in, his phone rang; it was Dante. "Speaking of the devil," Diego muttered as he left to answer the call.
Jane got up to lock the door and hurried to the restroom. She had been holding it in since coming home—even when Diego had been trying to force her to speak and had pretended to be angry for closing her mouth. Finally, once Diego had left, she dashed into the restroom to relieve herself. However, the noise was so loud that she pulled out her phone and started playing music to mask it. Before she could finish, she heard a persistent knock on the door. Covering her mouth, she listened as the knocking continued. "Miss Stadlar, open the door. Are you okay?" someone called out repeatedly. The knocking persisted until Ms. Rose was interrupted, speaking to the knocker. Diego then asked Ms. Rose why she was knocking. "I wanted to bring her laundry, but no one was answering. When I put my ear to the door, I heard a loud noise that scared me. I hope she is okay," she explained.
Immediately, Diego called Dante and John to come. They tried to open the door, but it was locked from the inside. Meanwhile, Jane, having heard the commotion and Diego's voice, had just finished her business in the restroom and was now struggling to flush. She pressed the WC button several times, but nothing happened; the smell was overpowering. Frustrated by the persistent knocking, she dashed out of the bathroom. At that moment, Diego had already opened the door with the master key.
When they pushed the door open, Jane was sitting just outside the restroom. Diego rushed toward her, but Jane screamed, "Don't... stay away!" She didn't want him near her, afraid he would notice the smell. Acting defensively, she warned, "If you come close to me, I will do something you won't like. I might hurt myself. Stay away!" She even picked a pin from her hair and held it close to her neck. Tears streamed down her face as she cried, "I've tried and tried, but nothing is working." In truth, she was talking about her difficulty with the flush.
Diego then turned to a nearby motivational speaker and ordered, "Dante, call 911." He then addressed Jane, "Jane, I'm sorry if I made you angry by shutting you up, or if my remark about kissing triggered your emotions. Please don't do this to yourself, and don't do this to me. I will give you whatever you want, I will do anything for you—just drop the pin." Meanwhile, Dante, who had sensed something was amiss, asked Ms. Rose, "What's that smell? Where is it coming from?" Ms. Rose replied curtly, "Is that what concerns you? It's my stomach—I ate something bad this morning."
Jane screamed, "Stay away from me!" and immediately got up, pushing them outside. Once outside, she locked the door and dashed back to the restroom to flush again. This time, the flush finally worked. "Phew, thank goodness," she whispered. However, 911 had already arrived, and as they began knocking alongside Diego, a kindly-looking medic named Esther said, "Miss Stadlar, you are safe with us. Please try not to—" Before she could finish, Jane opened the door and pretended to faint. Diego rushed to her side, shouting, "Do something! Don't just stand there and watch—save her!" Dante attempted to help, but Diego refused his touch, glaring at him.
A minute later, after the medics finished their check-up and Mr. Leo arrived with Mr. White—the doctor who had treated Jane for six years while she was in a coma—they all left. Mr. White informed them that she was okay; she was just stressed.
Once they left, only Diego and Jane remained, though Jane was unaware of Diego's continued presence. When she finally turned to check if everyone had gone, her eyes met Diego's. Not knowing how to react without revealing her secret, she said softly, "You said you would do anything for me. Does that offer still stand?"
