Levi and Navi came into view of a few guards who were set for Prince Levi. They bowed as Levi approached them as they stood by the entrance. The night was cold, and so was his ride. The crescent moon shone dimly behind the clouds, barely highlighting the night. One of the guards helped Levi out on his think cloak. And just as he was about to stake a step down the steps:
"Your majesty!" Sarah called out, her voice hoarse with despair
"Is there another problem?" He turned around impatiently. She seemed to always bring bad news to him, and sighting her, didn't refute his thoughts. Navi still stood where he was, wondering what news Sarah had to deliver at the middle of the night.
Sarah's head was still lowered, and he noticed she seemed to quiver, which he didn't have time for.
"Your Majesty. It's her Highness."
His cold boiling aura seemed to lighten.
"Speak."
"She... she's …"
"I said speak!" He yelled.
Squeezing her face tight as her voice shook, "She's missing, sire!", she spouted.
His blind wife was missing.
Navi noticed Levi seemed to freeze like a statue for seconds to process the thought. His eyes rampaged left and right as he tried to phanthom the idea. Forgetting his appointment, he stormed back in, his destination, the secluded room next to his chambers. Just as Sarah's eyes were teary, she rose up looking in the direction of the lost prince. She noticed Prince Navi, who stood in the rear distance, staring silently at her, also in shock. He was about to utter the question: How was she missing? When she beat him to it.
"Your Highness, that's not all."
Navi's heart seemed to beat faster, as her eyes told him the words he hoped she wasn't going to say.
"The princess too has gone missing."
It was Navi's turn to freeze. His expression was full of doubt yet, he remained still. His eyes were still locked with Sarah's but she could tell his mind was else where. He slowly approached her, every step, making the guards step further away from her and what every judgment coming. Her legs gave way to the ground as she knelt before his killing and coming steps.
"Please, your majesty."
Her eyes never left the ground, as tears ran away from her eyes, until his shoes were in her view.
"Sarah. Look at me."
Like a frightened rat, she looked up at him, her eyes telling him she didn't want to look his way.
"Tell me," he said nonchalantly, as he breathed out to release the steam that was emanating from his slowly growing anger.
"Tell me you're lying."
She shook her head in a plea for her life, that she was telling the truth.
Navi's heart hardened with something he wasn't too sure about. He bent down to her level, and stared her dead in the eyes. His eyes hiding the thoughts in his mind.
He tilted his head as he stared into her soul, looking for an answer, of which her eyes mistakenly gave away a hint of his doubt in her.
"Go after my brother. And make sure, she's in that room, Sarah. You had only two important responsibilities in this palace, and now you come here with crocodile tears that you can't account for any? And you look me in the eyes, to tell me that?"
He pulled her closer by the chin, and she shuddered away, but he gripped her firmer, his calm face, changing to that of fury,
"Sarah…" He seemed to coax, " Sarah… Sarah."
He leaned in to her ears, whispering;
"I don't believe those two, left this roof, without your help. And once I find out you're in anyway involved…" he trailed off, leaving the silence to fill her imagination. He pushed her away roughly from the chin, as he stormed off, to the princess' room.
Terrified, she ran after prince Levi.
Not to long after, the guards below heard a call out for them.
"Guards!"
