Chapter 67: Teaching Nigel.

WITH HIS BACK against the wall, Nigel stared, his breath hitching. The sparkle in Pete’s eyes held that specific, unsettling glint, the one that stripped Nigel bare in his own mind.

What was happening? He didn’t give a damn what Pete did. This was a quarrel, wasn’t it? Hadn’t he just told the bloody alien to go home?

Pete wasn’t going home.

The bloke moved with terrifying speed, snatching all four of Nigel’s tentacles in his powerful limbs. Pete pressed Nigel’s body to the wall, a sudden, inescapable weight trapping him.

Every combat move, every escape route, flashed through Nigel’s mind, honed by years of survival. Yet, he did nothing. He stood perfectly still, letting Pete pin him to the wall. Why was he letting the royal do this? More importantly, why did this feel so…right?

The alien winked, a slow, deliberate blink that sent a jolt down Nigel’s spine.
