Chapter 93: Learning about this planet.

NIGEL AND PETE followed the king down the palace hallway. Before Nigel could even think of arguing about this outing, warm, solid tentacles started petting his spine.

Bollocks. That felt too loving to brawl with Pete.

The hallway widened, opening into a spacious area with high ceilings. The peach sky winked at him between swathes of intricate fabric hanging from above. “You’ve been in my mind,” Pete whispered, his voice soft. “There are no weebills here. This is a fun outing with the king. This is an honor, Nigel,” Pete tugged him along gently. “Dagerstanteens go out of the palace sometimes. I even hike in the mountains.”

“What’s a weebill?” Sloan asked, curiosity in his tone.

“It’s like a giant gray flamingo,” Pete answered, a mischievous glint in his eye. “With teeth.”
