NIGEL’S EYES WENT wide as he took it all in. Outside stood many Dagerstanteens. A mix of aliens cleaned and cared for the structures, their movements fluid and purposeful. They clearly liked these dwellings.
“It’s their homes,” Pete brushed warmly against Nigel, a comforting presence. “Your creator had something like this.”
Along the houses, plants were organized, with vibrant green vines winding gracefully up the sides of the buildings. All the places appeared safe and secure. The aliens of Octnavin’s planet smiled happily under their peach sky. Octnavin might be a good king.
“Octnavin is a magnificent king,” Pete murmured, his voice laced with absolute conviction. “The best.”
“Excellent, Peltratria.” Octnavin chuckled, a pleased rumble. “I never tire of flattery.”
“That’s true,” Sloan laughed, nudging Octnavin playfully. “And you are a handsome king.”
