Chapter 89: The story of Nigel’s creator.
INSIDE HIS MIND, Nigel knew that Pete listened intently, a silent, supportive presence. His nostrils flared as he exhaled his annoyance, a slow, deliberate release of pent-up fury. He couldn’t let this sea of lies stand. The history was so profoundly wrong that the words grated on him like the sound of a dying tesller.
“My creator taught many warriors to fight the croow. That part of the story is true, mate. He was a great soldier. A master of his craft.”
“The best,” Fenton agreed, his tone sincere. “That is why none of Tolleson’s tale made sense to me. If Warrior Nightmen had wanted a ship, he could have overpowered a guard and taken one with stealth and ease. He would have simply disappeared into the night. And I believe there was no way that Tolleson could have bested Nightmen in a fight. The Dagerstanteen was not known for his fighting skills.”
