Chapter 6

"Good, I'll get lost."

I went into the room and pulled out my pre-packed suitcase, leaving without looking back.

Behind me, I heard Melody's incredulous cursing and the sound of dishes shattering.

"You've got some nerve! Don't come crawling back to me later!"

"I'd like to see how long you can survive out there, you jobless kept man!"

I paused mid-step.

I never thought this was how she saw me.

After all these years of dedication, in her eyes, I was just a kept man.

I could have had a bright future too.

A few days later, a friend sent me the divorce papers.

Since I hadn't taken the house keys when I left, I planned to bring the agreement to Melody's office for her to sign.

As soon as I entered the lobby, someone blocked my way.

It was Donavan again.

With Melody not around, he completely dropped his facade.
