Chapter 7

"Ethan, are you done throwing your tantrum? If so, come back home."

I was taken aback.

I had switched to a new phone card, yet somehow she'd gotten hold of my number.

"Melody, didn't you receive the divorce papers I had my secretary deliver to you?"

She paused.

I continued, "I'm not asking for a penny of our assets, and there are no unreasonable demands in there. If you're unsure, have a lawyer look it over. If everything's fine, just sign it. That way you can be free too."

She was silent for a long time, then came at me aggressively: "Ethan, have you forgotten about my eating disorder? I only eat food you cook. If I sign those papers, how will you make meals for me?"

Her words made me laugh.

"Melody, you don't really think I didn't hear anything that night at the bar, do you?"

"It must have been so hard for you, pretending for so long for Donavan's sake. Now I've finally given you what you wanted. What more do you want?"
