The morning sun barely peeked through the blinds of Kim Taehyung's office as he sat behind his grand mahogany desk, a smug smirk playing on his lips. Today was the day he would begin his little game—a game where he would let Jungkook believe he was falling for him.
Taehyung knew Jungkook wanted him to fall in love, to accept him, to remember a past that was still locked away in shadows. If Jungkook wanted to play, then Taehyung would play along, but on his terms. And while doing so, he would dig into the truth—into what Jungkook was really hiding.
His fingers tapped rhythmically against the desk as he recalled the words from last night. "Taehyung is not just any human… He's the reincarnation of my past lover."
His jaw clenched slightly. If Jungkook thought he could simply dictate his fate, he was wrong. Taehyung had spent years building himself into the ruthless, untouchable man he was today. No past, no prophecy, no wolf nonsense would change that. But… if Jungkook wanted him to believe, then he'd make him believe he was.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts.
"Come in."
Jungkook stepped in, dressed in his usual tailored suit, his expression unreadable but his eyes scanning Taehyung carefully.
"Good morning, sir," Jungkook greeted, his voice laced with professional detachment. Yet, Taehyung didn't miss the way his jaw tensed slightly, as if he were anticipating something.
Taehyung leaned back in his chair, letting a lazy smirk form on his lips. "Morning, Jungkook."
Jungkook arched an eyebrow. It wasn't like Taehyung to greet him so smoothly. Usually, their conversations started with cold indifference or sharp commands.
"Is there something wrong?" Jungkook asked, suspicious.
Taehyung tilted his head slightly. "Can't I just appreciate having a capable employee like you?"
Jungkook's eyes narrowed slightly. "You don't usually do that."
"Maybe I've had a change of heart." Taehyung stood, walking around his desk and stopping just a few inches from Jungkook. "Or maybe… I'm starting to see you in a different light."
Jungkook stiffened. His wolf stirred inside him, unsure whether to feel hopeful or wary.
Taehyung chuckled. Hook, line, and sinker.
Before Jungkook could respond, the door burst open, and Min-Yu stormed in.
"Sir, I—" he paused, his eyes darting between Taehyung and Jungkook, as if sensing something was off.
Taehyung sighed, annoyed at the interruption. "What is it?"
"There's been a report of missing shipment details from last night's deal. I came to inform you immediately," Min-Yu said hastily, casting a side glance at Jungkook as if he were still holding a grudge from yesterday's events.
Jungkook, on the other hand, kept his expression neutral, though he could sense Min-Yu's resentment. It didn't matter. His only concern was Taehyung.
Taehyung nodded. "I'll handle it. Now leave."
Min-Yu hesitated but eventually left, closing the door behind him.
Jungkook finally exhaled. "What was that about?"
Taehyung shrugged. "Just business. You'll be seeing a lot more of me from now on, Jungkook."
Jungkook gulped. There was something dangerous yet inviting in the way Taehyung said that. His wolf ached to get closer, but something in his human instincts told him to be careful.
Whatever Taehyung was planning, Jungkook could sense it was only the beginning. And he wasn't sure if he was ready for the storm it would bring.
