Eira moved silently through the dense forest, every sense heightened, her bow at the ready. As the most skilled huntress in the region, she'd tracked the dangerous beast for days, determined to protect her village from further devastation.
Just as she lined up her shot, a loud crash and a string of colorful curses shattered the silence. A man tumbled gracelessly into view, scaring away her prey.
"You clumsy fool!" Eira hissed, aiming her bow at the intruder instead.
He stood slowly, brushing leaves from his hair and flashing a disarmingly lazy grin. "Sorry, didn't see you there."
"Clearly," she snapped, eyes narrowing suspiciously. "Who are you?"
"Name's Dude," he replied, looking around with exaggerated confusion. "I'm… a bit lost."
Despite her annoyance, Eira reluctantly agreed to let Dude accompany her, mostly to keep him from destroying more trails. His endless chatter and confident charm irritated her to no end—yet she found herself hiding smiles behind her scowls.
When the beast ambushed them, however, Dude transformed from a bumbling annoyance to a formidable warrior, fighting skillfully with blade and wit.
"Could you hurry it up, huntress?" he teased, parrying claws with ease. "I'd like to survive to annoy you further."
"Then shut up and fight," she retorted, swiftly firing arrows.
After defeating the beast, they set up camp under the stars, adrenaline slowly fading. Eira watched Dude thoughtfully, realizing she'd misjudged him.
"You're infuriating," she admitted softly, eyes glittering with grudging admiration.
"And you're irresistible when angry," Dude responded playfully, leaning closer.
Their lips met passionately, sparks igniting instantly. Beneath the vast wilderness sky, Eira discovered a deeper connection—one she'd never expected, but now fiercely embraced. The huntress finally realized that the most exhilarating adventure wasn't the hunt itself, but the mercenary who'd stolen her heart.
