Chapter 5: The Sun Moon Empire’s Background Check

Chapter 5: The Sun Moon Empire's Background Check

There was no denying that the Tang Sect had excessively glorified Tang San.

Take the Slaughter City from Douluo Dalu 1, for example. Huo Yuhao had always wondered why Tang San had to destroy it. That place was essentially a terrifying prison once evildoers entered, they became trapped in a cycle of endless killing, making it extremely difficult for them to leave.

But then, the ever righteous Tang San went and wiped Slaughter City off the map, which was basically like blowing up a prison full of criminals. Honestly, this was definitely one of the reasons why evil soul masters ran rampant in Douluo Dalu 2.

In a way, all evil soul masters owed their freedom to their founding ancestor, Tang San.

"So, Xiao Yuhao, what do you think? Want to join our Tang Sect? Even though we've fallen on hard times, I will restore the Tang Sect to its former glory one day!" Tang Ya said with a smile.

"Big Sister Xiao Ya, I still want to go find my relatives. I already made arrangements with them a while ago, and I can't break my word," Huo Yuhao said with a troubled expression.

To be honest, Tang Ya and Bei Bei had been kind to him. Joining the Tang Sect and enrolling in Shrek Academy was a solid option after all, in the original story, Huo Yuhao did gain some advantages from Shrek.

But once you join the Tang Sect, there's no turning back!

If he followed the expected path joining the Tang Sect, then entering Shrek he would inevitably fall under Tang San's watchful eye. And once that happened, Tang San would definitely have him completely under control. After all, Tang San's divine sense was still lurking inside Wang Dong.

If things played out like in the original, and he had to endure that Emotion Inquiry Valley nonsense, Huo Yuhao might actually lose his mind.

Of course, he couldn't tell them he was heading to the Sun Moon Empire Shrek Academy and the Sun Moon Empire weren't exactly on good terms.

"I see… so Xiao Yuhao, you really aren't interested in the Tang Sect," Tang Ya said, disappointment flickering in her eyes.

She studied Huo Yuhao for a moment before sighing. Then, she reached into her storage soul tool, rubbed it a few times, and pulled out two gold soul coins. "Since I ate your grilled fish, I have to help you out. I don't know where your relatives live, but I imagine you need some travel money, right?"

As she spoke, she placed the two gold soul coins into Huo Yuhao's palm.

"Big Sister Xiao Ya… this…" Huo Yuhao looked at her in surprise.

"Just take it, Yuhao. Meeting each other is a kind of fate, and this is just a small token of appreciation from Teacher Xiao Ya.

"I hope that when we meet again, you'll already be a respected and powerful soul master," Bei Bei said with a smile.

Even though Huo Yuhao had turned down their invitation, Bei Bei wasn't upset. As the great grandson of Dragon God Douluo Mu En, his upbringing was quite refined.

Huo Yuhao hesitated for a moment before clenching the two gold soul coins and putting them into his cloth pouch. He looked at the two of them and said, "Thank you."

He did need travel funds. Initially, he had planned to save up for his journey to the Sun Moon Empire by selling grilled fish. Tang Ya's help had actually saved him some time.

After chatting a little longer, Huo Yuhao bid them farewell and turned to leave.

One Month Later.

Star Luo Empire.

Yuming City.

Huo Yuhao stood in front of a grill, a wooden sign beside him with the words "Little Huo's Grilled Fish" carved into it.

After quickly checking his seasonings, he began preparing the fish, following the steps he remembered.

As time passed, the rich aroma of grilled fish filled the air, attracting a crowd. People began lining up, eagerly waiting for their turn.

"Little brother, how much for a serving of grilled fish?" a bald man asked.

"Honest pricing five copper soul coins per serving," Huo Yuhao replied while cooking.

Ever since obtaining his wisdom soul ring, his grilling skills had improved significantly. His first soul skill was Spiritual Detection if he focused it on a single target instead of using it for wide area scanning, he could easily monitor every tiny detail of the cooking process.

"Five copper soul coins? That's expensive," the bald man said in surprise. "Is it really that good?"

Before Huo Yuhao could answer, the others in line spoke up.

"Are you serious? Everyone in Yuming City knows Little Huo's grilled fish is top tier! He's been making a name for himself over the past half month!"

"Exactly! If you can't afford five copper soul coins, then get lost!"

Hearing this, the bald man's expression darkened. "Hmph, fine! Let's see if it's really that good!"

Soon, it was his turn. He paid the five copper soul coins, received a grilled fish, and took a bite.

At first, he was unimpressed. But as soon as the fish touched his tongue, his entire expression changed.

By the time he finished, his eyes were practically glowing. He rushed back over. "Little brother, can I buy more? This fish is amazing!"

Huo Yuhao glanced at the queue and quickly calculated how many fish he had left. After comparing the two, he said, "I'm almost sold out for today. If you want more, you'll have to come back next time."

Hearing this, the bald man sighed and walked away in disappointment. The people still in line, however, grinned.

Every single person who had doubted Little Huo's grilled fish eventually ended up obsessed with it.

Once he had sold out, Huo Yuhao packed up and left, heading toward a blacksmith shop in the southern part of Yuming City.

For Huo Yuhao, this was his twentieth day in Yuming City.

During this time, he had found a way to travel to the Sun Moon Empire. But right now, he was still in the background check phase.

Before long, he stepped into the blacksmith shop and walked into the back room.

There, a burly middle aged man sat on a chair. When he saw Huo Yuhao enter, he immediately smiled. "Huo Yuhao, you're finally here. Did you bring the ten gold soul coins?"

"I did," Huo Yuhao said, handing them over.

This man's name was Zhang Jin a spy planted in Yuming City by the Sun Moon Empire.

After discovering that Huo Yuhao possessed a spiritual type martial soul, Zhang Jin had approached him, gathering information about his background.

According to their agreement, as long as Huo Yuhao saved up ten gold soul coins, Zhang Jin would grease the right palms within the Star Luo Empire's military near the Mingdou Mountains and smuggle him into Mingdu to take the entrance exam for the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy.

Of course, Huo Yuhao knew full well that the real reason he had been told to save money wasn't just about bribes.

Spiritual type martial souls were perfect for becoming soul engineers. So, even though his innate soul power was only at rank one, he was still highly valuable.

However, he suspected that Zhang Jin was testing him, so he played along selling grilled fish to earn the money.

"Not bad," Zhang Jin said, accepting the ten gold soul coins with a grin. "Rest assured, with a Spirit Eyes martial soul like yours, you will be admitted into the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy!

"I can tell you're serious about this, so from today onward, you are officially one of us a citizen of the Sun Moon Empire!"

From the moment Zhang Jin realized that Huo Yuhao's Spirit Eyes were an innate martial soul, he had been ecstatic. But, to be cautious, he had spent the past few weeks thoroughly investigating Huo Yuhao's background.

Now that he had confirmed Huo Yuhao wasn't a Star Luo Empire spy, he had to bring him into the Sun Moon Empire!

Finally! I got my Sun Moon Green Card!

Hiding his thoughts, Huo Yuhao deliberately put on an innocent smile. "Uncle Zhang, am I really a Sun Moon citizen now?"
