Chapter 93: The Story of the Qilin

Under the moonlight, the Qilin stood with unmatched might, its hooves ablaze, scorching the space around it, twisting the very air. It gazed silently at Lin Jiufeng, its fur gently swaying in the wind without any other movement.

The White Fox also noticed the Qilin and exclaimed in surprise, "The Sacred Beast, the Qilin?"

The Qilin tilted its head, equally surprised. "A Nine-Tailed Fox?"

"In this realm of weak spiritual energy, a Nine-Tailed Fox has been born?" The Qilin moved forward, approaching the window, and scrutinized the White Fox in Lin Jiufeng's arms.

"It's even a Nine-Tailed Fox with an ancient bloodline. If the Heavenly Clan of the Qingqiu Fox Tribe knew, they would surely break the barriers between realms to bring you back," the Qilin said seriously.

The White Fox frowned and shrank in Lin Jiufeng's embrace. She didn't like hearing this at all. She had no desire to leave Lin Jiufeng and go to that so-called Qingqiu Fox Tribe.

Lin Jiufeng, holding the White Fox, gently petted her to soothe her, then stared at the Qilin. "A Sacred Beast visiting late at night, what is it that you want?"

The Qilin didn't glance at the White Fox. Instead, it focused on Lin Jiufeng and spoke in a deep voice, "I wish to ask for your help. As for the price, feel free to name it. As long as I have the means, I will do it."

Lin Jiufeng was surprised. "A Sacred Beast has reached the Tenth Barrier of cultivation. With the advantages of your race and your innate divine powers, you are practically invincible in this world. Why would you still need my help?"

The Qilin shook its head. "The spiritual energy in this realm is too sparse. I've been absorbing it for over ten years, but progress is too slow. My bloodline hasn't even developed a fraction of its potential. I'm still in my juvenile stage, unable to do many things and in need of assistance."

Lin Jiufeng studied the Sacred Beast in front of him. Despite its imposing presence, it didn't make him feel fearful or anxious. The Qilin wasn't lying; the thin spiritual energy in this realm was indeed a massive limitation for it.

"What do you need my help with?" Lin Jiufeng asked as he walked out of the scripture vault, standing beside the Qilin at the edge of the cliff, gazing at the moon. He was curious.

The Qilin, tall and majestic, raised its head to look at the moon. "Have you ever heard of the Land of Fallen Immortals?"

Lin Jiufeng's heart skipped a beat, but his expression remained calm. "What is the Land of Fallen Immortals?"

The Qilin explained, "The Land of Fallen Immortals is a relic that fell to this realm six thousand years ago from the Dimension Battlefield."

"Whose relic is it?" Lin Jiufeng immediately asked, catching the core of the matter.

The Qilin turned to look at Lin Jiufeng and said solemnly, "It's my father's."

Lin Jiufeng stared at the Qilin in surprise. He hadn't expected the Land of Fallen Immortals to be linked to the Qilin's father.

The Qilin's mood turned somber as it continued, "My father was the first Sacred Beast Qilin born in the Dimension Battlefield. He reached an extraordinary level of cultivation and was about to ascend to the Immortal Realm, but he fell in love with my mother. After she became pregnant with me, my father slowed his ascension and devoted all his energy to purifying my bloodline, so my mother wouldn't suffer."

Lin Jiufeng, still holding the White Fox, listened quietly.

The White Fox suddenly asked, "Was your mother a human?"

The Sacred Beast Qilin nodded slowly.

"I am a hybrid—half human, half Qilin. My father's efforts to purify my bloodline allowed me to inherit the Qilin's power. Otherwise, my bloodline would have already weakened," the Qilin explained.

The White Fox spoke softly, "My father was also human."

The Qilin looked at her in surprise. "Then your Nine-Tails... Is it from a bloodline inheritance?"

"I mutated. My bloodline returned to its ancient form, and that's how I gained these powers," the White Fox replied.

"And my parents were killed by those 'righteous' people because of their union between human and demon," she added quietly.

The Qilin's gaze softened, and he looked at the White Fox with newfound warmth. Their similar experiences and mixed heritage forged a bond of empathy between them.

"You possess Nine Tails, your bloodline has reverted to its ancient state, and your talent is extraordinary. Your future is limitless. And with a human deity like Lin Jiufeng to protect you, you are far luckier than I," the Qilin said, then began recounting his own tale.

"My mother gave birth to me, but my father was exhausted from purifying my bloodline. His strength had faded from its peak. Taking advantage of this, the Hundred Clans launched a series of attacks, forcing my father to flee for an entire year. My mother passed away after giving birth to me. My father, heartbroken, burned his own life force, using his supreme power to summon the Land of Fallen Immortals. He destroyed all those who pursued him, but in doing so, he sacrificed himself and joined my mother in death."

Lin Jiufeng and the White Fox listened in silence.

"After my father's death, the Land of Fallen Immortals went out of control and broke through the Dimension Battlefield, crashing into this realm."

"When I was born, my father protected me with his remaining power, turning me into a Qilin egg. As the land fell, I was thrown out of the crash."

"I spent six thousand years absorbing the realm's spiritual energy before I finally hatched."

"But when I was born, I couldn't control my aura and was discovered by a group of Taoist priests. They chased me, hoping I would become their guardian beast."

"Fools," the Qilin sneered.

Lin Jiufeng understood. The Taoist priests who pursued the Qilin were from the Taishang Dao. It was because they were busy chasing the Qilin that the Yuhua Sect had the opportunity to rise, and Lin Jiufeng had the time to make his mark.

As he pieced everything together, Lin Jiufeng looked at the Qilin, who seemed depressed, and asked, "Do you know where the Land of Fallen Immortals is located?"

"I do. I can feel it. The Land of Fallen Immortals is hidden within the towering ice mountains of the Far North," the Qilin confirmed.

"Then, why don't you go there yourself?" Lin Jiufeng asked.

"My current strength isn't enough to open the Land of Fallen Immortals. That's why I've come to invite you. I recognize your power. Apart from the old dragon to the south, you're the strongest in this world. Even I might not be able to defeat you," the Qilin said frankly.

Lin Jiufeng waved his hand. "You are a Sacred Beast, born with immense power and divine abilities. You are far stronger than me. Besides, why don't you go find that old dragon in the south?"

The Qilin shook his head. "That old dragon was defeated and fell to this realm. He isn't a trustworthy ally, and he's severely wounded. No one knows if he has any tricks left up his sleeve. He's no match for you."

"You grew up in this world. I've investigated your character, and I trust you. With your strength, if we join forces, we should be able to open the Land of Fallen Immortals. We won't need anyone else," the Qilin said earnestly.

"What's so important in the Land of Fallen Immortals that you want to go there?" the White Fox asked.

"My parents' remains," the Qilin said flatly.

Lin Jiufeng and the White Fox exchanged a glance, then Lin Jiufeng spoke, "I agree to help you open the Land of Fallen Immortals."

The Qilin gazed at him gratefully. "Thank you. Whatever you wish, just ask. If I can do it, I will not refuse."

"I don't want anything from you. Just tell me about the Dimension Battlefield," Lin Jiufeng said directly.

The White Fox's ancestral memory contained some knowledge of the Dimension Battlefield, but it was ancient and incomplete, and the records were few. The White Fox's ancestors had lived in the Heavenly Realm, far removed from the Dimension Battlefield.

With the Qilin here, he surely knew more.
