Chapter 94: The Sacred Fire of the Qilin

The evening breeze was gentle, lifting the hem of Lin Jiufeng's robes and tousling the fur of the Qilin.

The Qilin gazed at Lin Jiufeng and spoke, "You asked about the Dimensional Battlefield; are you planning to enter it?"

Lin Jiufeng shook his head. "It was the Teacher who told me about the Dimensional Battlefield."

The Qilin nodded. "The Teacher has great fortune and the ability to peer into the Dimensional Battlefield. You wish to know about the human race in the battlefield?"

Lin Jiufeng nodded.

"The human race in the Dimensional Battlefield is just one of the many races, but due to the scarcity of human experts, they have always been oppressed and are in a dire situation. Once you enter, be cautious," the Qilin said seriously.

Lin Jiufeng asked again, "Can the Immortal Ascension Path lead to the Dimensional Battlefield?"

What the Teacher had said was merely his words; Lin Jiufeng didn't fully trust it, so he sought confirmation from the Qilin.

The Qilin nodded and replied solemnly, "The Immortal Ascension Path is a trap set by one of the races in the Dimensional Battlefield, designed to lure human experts in and immediately erase them. They are not meant to grow strong, so you must not go."

Lin Jiufeng's expression turned serious. Now he was convinced. What the Teacher had said, and what the Qilin confirmed, clearly indicated the Immortal Ascension Path was a dangerous trap.

"Which race despises humanity so much that they would set up such a malicious trap to harm those who struggle to ascend?" Lin Jiufeng asked angrily.

Considering the human world's sparse spiritual energy and the difficulty of reaching the Tenth Threshold, it required immense effort and sacrifice. He had expected the Dimensional Battlefield to offer further opportunities for advancement, but instead, the Immortal Ascension Path led only to hopeless death. The thought made him furious.

The Qilin shook his head. "I don't know. The Dimensional Battlefield is very complicated. It was created as a buffer zone between the human world and the Immortal Realm. The Immortal Realm stands above, while the human world is at the bottom, with the Dimensional Battlefield in between. Initially, it wasn't of much importance, but over time, its status has been raised, making it harder for human cultivators to ascend."

"If we don't use the Dimensional Battlefield, the only other option is to break through the Eleventh Threshold and break the boundary, then enter the battlefield," Lin Jiufeng said.

"Indeed, that's one option, but there are others," the Qilin agreed.

Lin Jiufeng quickly asked, "What other options?"

"The Two-Worlds Transmission Array. If you enter the Dimensional Battlefield, learn the array, and set it up in both the human world and the battlefield, then as a disciple of the Feathering Gate, you won't need to break through the Eleventh Threshold to enter the Dimensional Battlefield," the Qilin explained.

"The Two-Worlds Transmission Array…" Lin Jiufeng committed the information to memory.

"My knowledge of the Dimensional Battlefield is based on records from six thousand years ago, passed down from my father. A lot could have changed in the last six millennia. To truly understand, you'll need to visit the battlefield yourself," the Qilin said seriously.

Lin Jiufeng nodded. No matter how much the Qilin or the Teacher told him, he would have to go and experience it firsthand.

"When shall we head to the Land of Fallen Immortals?" Lin Jiufeng immediately asked.

"Now!" the Qilin answered without hesitation.

"Alright, let's go now!" Lin Jiufeng agreed without delay. He wasn't one to procrastinate; once he made a decision, he preferred to act swiftly.

The Qilin's hooves stirred the wind, lifting Lin Jiufeng into the air, where they hovered under the night sky. The Qilin turned to look at him.

Lin Jiufeng gently placed White Fox down, smiling. "Wait for me here."

White Fox wanted to join him, but she understood that the Land of Fallen Immortals was dangerous. She nodded reluctantly, behaving obediently.

Lin Jiufeng gently rubbed her fur and said, "If the disciples ask about me, tell them I went out on business. I'll be back soon."

White Fox nodded.

Without hesitation, Lin Jiufeng transformed into a streak of light, shooting into the sky. A series of sonic booms echoed as he vanished, his speed now immeasurable.

The Qilin was equally fast, surrounded by array patterns that flashed briefly, enhancing his speed, not falling behind Lin Jiufeng.

The two of them soared through the night sky, heading north at incredible speed. The mountains and lands disappeared behind them as they traversed vast expanses—over mountains, across grasslands, skimming deserts—until they reached the extreme north.

This place was a kingdom of ice and snow, where even the Ninth Threshold could be frozen to death by the extreme cold.

Neither the Qilin nor Lin Jiufeng slowed down as they continued deeper into the icy wilderness. The temperature was so severe that even Lin Jiufeng's powerful body felt the chill. It was easy to imagine that ordinary cultivators would freeze to death instantly in this environment.

After flying for hours, they reached an even more remote part of the icy expanse. The Qilin finally stopped.

Lin Jiufeng followed, standing still in the void, and asked, "Are we here?"

The cold wind howled, ice shards striking his energy shield. Looking around, all that could be seen was snow and ice, mountains frozen in place. As far as the eye could see, the world was white—sky, clouds, and snow all blending together.

The Qilin nodded. "It's beneath this thousand-foot-thick layer of snow."

Lin Jiufeng followed the Qilin as they descended, landing on the ice. "Shall we dig down?"

The Qilin replied, "I'll melt it."

Boom!

In the next instant, blue flames erupted from the Qilin's hooves, swirling with immense heat. His fur flared as he stepped onto the ice, quickly melting it away.

They descended rapidly.

Lin Jiufeng stood aside, feeling the temperature of the Qilin's flames, secretly envious.

Whether divine beasts or sacred beasts, they were born with innate gifts that others could only envy.

The blue flames were incredibly hot, with destructive power. However, they didn't harm Lin Jiufeng in the slightest, which spoke to the Qilin's control over his power.

As he observed closely, Lin Jiufeng suddenly saw a line of text appear before his eyes.

[You carefully observe the Qilin Sacred Fire, awakening your extraordinary perception, and gain insight into the Path of Fire!]

Lin Jiufeng was stunned by the message. He hadn't expected this simple observation to trigger such a profound insight.

"What is the Path of Fire?" Lin Jiufeng asked, curious.

[The Path of Fire is the foundation of the Way of Fire, the fundamental basis of all flames in the world. Any fire can evolve from this.]

Lin Jiufeng read the information with satisfaction. With this path, his understanding of the Way of Fire would be much easier.

He now combined the Path of Fire with the Way of Water he had previously mastered. In essence, the two paths were similar, and Lin Jiufeng welcomed them both. After all, any path was valuable.

Without accumulating small steps, how could one reach great heights?
