Chapter 2

Hearing my friend Xie Zixin's voice, my mind finally became clearer. I had originally arranged to go shopping with her today to prepare a birthday gift for Luo Wenbin, which is in two months.

Thinking of this, I sighed heavily and asked, "Qianqian, can you come pick me up now? Luo Wenbin kicked me out, we've broken up."

"What? Send me your address, I'll come right over!" Xie Zixin shouted angrily upon hearing this, and after receiving the address I sent her, she hung up and rushed over.

I sat on the steps dejectedly waiting, and within just ten minutes, her car showed up right in front of me.

"That bastard! It's good you broke up. Come over and stay at my place! As long as I'm here, you'll never end up on the streets!" Without waiting for me to ask, Xie Zixin angrily opened the car door and decided where I'd stay.

I nodded, turned to pick up my suitcase to leave with her, but a large, defined hand beat me to it and easily picked up my heavy luggage.

I looked up and found the owner of the hand to have striking eyebrows and eyes, with facial features as if they were carefully sculpted by Nuwa.

Standing together, he was like a flawless prince and I was a scruffy beggar.

"This is my brother, Xie Ziang." Xie Zixin wrapped her arm around my shoulder, interrupting my thoughts about him, "He came along to help with your luggage."

Because of her words, I then remembered that Xie Zixin had a younger brother, six years younger than us, who used to follow us around everywhere.

When he was nineteen, he went abroad to study. Whenever I visited Xie Zixin's house, I'd bring him some snacks and treated him like a younger brother too.

Little did I expect him to become this handsome over the years.

"Thank you, little brother." I nodded at him, politely expressing my gratitude.

"Call me Ziang." There was a slight commanding tone in his gentle voice.

I thought he didn't want me to call him younger, so I quickly corrected myself, "Thank you, Ziang."

After I said that, I noticed the corners of his mouth lift a little, making me think that's just like a younger brother, so childish that even the form of address matters.

But my relationship with Xie Zixin is as close as sisters, so satisfying her little brother's small wish wasn't a big deal.

Once in Xie Zixin's car, she held my hand tightly, relentlessly recounting all of Luo Wenbin's scumbag behavior over the years.

She knew all about my affairs, and the past replayed in my mind like movie scenes, but I didn't cry.

From when Luo Wenbin broke up with me to when I was settled at Xie Zixin's house, I didn't shed a single tear.

Xie Zixin specially cleared a whole day to accompany me, playing around as usual, the only difference being her brother was there too.

I kept feeling like he was watching me. After all, I had washed up and looked presentable again, so why was he still staring?

Yet every time I turned my head, he'd look innocently at me, silently asking, "What's wrong?"

It was me who ended up feeling guilty.

Could it be that I've become sensitive to men after the breakup?

Luckily, Xie Zixin lives alone, and after dinner, her outrageously handsome brother Xie Ziang left.

I finally felt much more comfortable.

"Oh, Qianqian, I just received a notice about a business trip. There's a problem with the project I'm in charge of, and I have to leave for the neighboring city right away. Are you... okay being here alone?" While we were lying on the sofa watching TV, Xie Zixin looked at me with concern and asked.
