Since graduating, I started a company on my own. Thanks to the substantial financial support left by my parents, my company successfully went public in less than three years. Due to the expansion, we now have to relocate to a more suitable office building.
After all, with more and more employees, squeezing into this building just isn't viable anymore. I can somewhat consider myself a big boss now, and to recruit more talent, it's important to showcase our company's facilities.
Today is the auspicious day chosen by a fortune teller I consulted.
However, I didn't tell my girlfriend Jiang Ruo and my good buddy Du Feng about this. Considering how hot it is now, if they knew, they'd definitely rush over to help me move. I don't want them laboring in the scorching sun.
Another reason is to surprise them.
Originally, Du Feng and I were rivals in love; we both pursued Jiang Ruo during our university days. But I won by a narrow margin and got the girl. Currently, our parents are discussing wedding details, and unless there's a glitch, our wedding will take place at the end of the year.
Looking at the villa keys in my hand, I can't help but smile at the thought of Jiang Ruo.
I plan to announce the news at my future mother-in-law's birthday party in a few days, giving her a big red envelope and handing Jiang Ruo the villa she has long admired. As for Du Feng... well, all guys love cars, and being the die-hard biker he is, I've already spotted a motorbike online that I plan to present to him in a few days.
Once Jiang Ruo and I move into the villa, I won't have to deal with Du Feng as much. That guy constantly comes over to complain about the quirky people at his company, always claiming they bully him.
It's fine that he complains to me; the problem is that he always interrupts the sweet moments between Jiang Ruo and me, which is quite infuriating.
Early in the morning, I arrived at the company with my secretary to get busy. The secretary checked over the company's miscellaneous items and said with some hesitation, "Vice President Wang, these things aren't much needed when we move, and they take up space. How about selling them on an online marketplace?"
I thought for a moment and said, "No need for that hassle. Who knows how long it'd take to sell them online? Here's what we'll do: I'll post on my social media and just give them away. Our company isn't short of money anyway."
Saying that, I took a few photos and posted them on my social media.
"The company is closing down. These are the cleared-out goods, most hardly used. If you're interested, DM me for a doorstep delivery. It's a steal."
"No way, our Vice President Wang's company is closing down?"
"Nonsense, must be relocating."
"Vice President Wang, we were classmates, keep that printer for me, don't give it to anyone else!"
"I think that set of tables and chairs looks great, just in time for my new tutoring class!"
It wasn't long before my phone buzzed with a flurry of messages. I was about to check them when Jiang Ruo suddenly called me.
"Wang Xiao, is what you said on your social media true?"
"Your company's gone bankrupt?"
I totally missed her somber tone and replied with a smile, "Yeah, poor business management. We're out of business. Looks like I'll be relying on you, my dear rich lady, to support me from now on."
