Chapter 2

On an average day, baby girl is either sleeping sweetly in her tiny crib or playing in the carefully arranged playroom under the watchful eye of her caretaker, Crystal.

This room still holds baby girl's toys she once played with, the little clothes she wore, and her small blanket hanging on the drying rack.

Every corner of this space is filled with baby girl's presence.

But now, there's not a trace of baby girl to be found.

Zoran, the man who repeatedly promised to spoil me and our daughter like the happiest princesses in the world.

How could he bear to do this?

At this moment, all my love for Zoran has transformed into intense hatred.

"Darling, I heard the surgery was over and was about to pick you up, but your colleague said you left on your own. Why didn't you wait for me?" Zoran had returned at some point, gently speaking as he pushed open the door.

Only after saying this did he notice I was sitting on the floor. He quickly took a few steps and softly embraced me.

I raised my head, my eyes red and swollen.

Looking at this man with his face full of tenderness, his gaze brimming with deep affection and concern, I felt momentarily dazed. How could he manage to appear so nonchalant after causing the death of our daughter?

At that moment, I suddenly became aware of something.

From the time we met until we got married, he always seemed to maintain this gentle demeanor.

When I was unhappy, he would softly embrace me and whisper words of comfort.

When I woke up, he had already prepared an exquisite breakfast.

Whenever I was exhausted from work, he would appear by my side in an instant.

Even on our dates, when we played some thrilling games and I screamed in fright, he would always be there, gently holding my hand, saying, "Don't worry, I've got everything under control."

I always thought this was love.

But now I understand that it was all too perfectly fake.

He wasn't like a real person, but rather an actor.

In my world, he was always playing the role of the perfect man.

"Darling, why are you sitting here crying? What's wrong?" Zoran asked curiously, noticing my dazed expression.

"Baby girl is missing. Do you know where our daughter is?" I asked, taking a deep breath.

His brow furrowed slightly as he casually replied, "Maybe the Crystal took her out for a walk.""No way!"

I declared emphatically, "If Crystal were to take our baby girl out, she would definitely tell me. Even if I'm in surgery, she'd at least send me a text to let me know. But I never received any message from her!"

"Tell me the truth, where exactly has our baby girl gone?"

Under my piercing gaze, Zoran hesitated for a moment.

Slowly, his eyes also began to redden, and he said sorrowfully, "Honey, our daughter... she's passed away."

Even though I had already confirmed it in my heart, the fact of our baby girl's death was now a reality.
