Chapter 22]
Joon clenched his fists, his mind racing. The telekinetic traveler wasn't just powerful—he was controlled, precise. That meant he'd been using his abilities for a long time. Longer than Joon had been here.
"What do you want from me?" Joon asked, his voice steady despite the weight of the situation.
The man tilted his head. "I should be asking you that." He stepped closer, his boots echoing against the pavement. "You've been stirring things up, Joon. The moment you started searching for the truth, you put a target on your back."
Joon felt the pressure around him shift. The air grew heavier, his limbs stiffening as if an invisible hand was gripping him.
"You should have left things alone," the man muttered, his glowing eyes narrowing. "But now, you've left me no choice."
Joon barely had time to react before the telekinetic force threw him against the wall. His ribs ached as he struggled to breathe, but his mind remained sharp. He reached out with his ability, sifting through the stranger's thoughts.
"The professor warned me. If Joon keeps digging, he'll find the core."
"I can't let him know the truth about the city's origins."
Joon's eyes widened. "The core...? What the hell is that?"
The man stiffened, realizing Joon had read his mind. His expression darkened. "Enough."
The pressure around Joon intensified, squeezing his chest. He gasped, his vision blurring. Just when he thought he would black out, a sudden gust of wind sliced through the alleyway.
A figure leaped down from the rooftop, landing between them. Joon recognized the familiar stance immediately.
"Sohyun!" he gasped.
She shot him a glance before turning her focus to the telekinetic. "You've done enough. Let him go."
The man exhaled sharply, the tension in the air lessening slightly. "So, you're still alive?"
Sohyun smirked. "Takes more than this city to get rid of me."
The man considered his options before finally releasing his grip. Joon collapsed onto the ground, coughing.
"This isn't over," the telekinetic warned. "You're closer to the truth than you realize, Joon. And the truth... is dangerous."
With that, he vanished into the darkness, leaving Joon and Sohyun alone in the alley.
