"Then it's settled, let's go together!" Haru responded.
"Really? Senpai! Uh, please take care of me in the future. My name is Tanjiro Kamado, but you can just call me Tanjiro!" Tanjiro was clearly surprised that Haru would join him, and it excited him. With Haru's involvement, Nezuko would be much safer.
"Shiroi Haru!" Haru looked at Tanjiro and answered indifferently.
After that, Haru accompanied Tanjiro to bury his deceased family members. Tanjiro, along with Nezuko, performed a simple ritual, while Haru quietly waited at a distance, not interrupting the siblings.
Tanjiro's family was very ordinary. His father passed away early when Tanjiro was young due to health issues, and the family relied solely on his mother and eldest son, Tanjiro. But now, this ordinary family had been shattered, with the only surviving sibling, Nezuko, turned into a demon.
Although Nezuko did not actively eat humans now, it didn't change the fact that she had become a demon.
These were things that kind-hearted Tanjiro shared with Haru while he was helping him dig the graves. Haru did not engage in too much discussion about Tanjiro's family, merely listening quietly as Tanjiro spoke of his cherished memories.
After finishing the burial, Tanjiro then brought Nezuko to Haru and studied the latter, who was wearing his father's clothes. He couldn't help but feel moved and said, "Shiroi-senpai, you really resemble my father."
Upon hearing this, Haru was stunned, then responded gruffly, "Tanjiro, what are you talking about?"
Tanjiro smiled and explained, "You're wearing my father's clothes, so it feels like my father is alive again."
"Couldn't you have found me something else to wear?" Haru glanced at his current attire, wishing he could take it off right then and there.
However, after thinking about it, Haru realized that might not be appropriate, so he had no choice but to leave it as is.
"My clothes are too small, and my brother's clothes wouldn't fit you at all. Only Father's clothes would work for you. What, Shiroi-senpai, are you saying you don't like my father's clothes?" Tanjiro continued.
Knowing there was no way to change clothes, Haru decided not to insist. After all, it was a snowy mountain, and he couldn't just take the clothes off and freeze!
Seeing that Tanjiro misunderstood him as rejecting his father's clothes, Haru explained, "I don't dislike them. It's just that your father's clothes don't quite suit me."
Tanjiro thought about it for a moment and agreed that it might be a bit inappropriate, so he said, "There really aren't any other clothes at home. I'll think of something once we get outside."
Haru didn't want to dwell on it any longer, so he urged, "Once you're done, let's head out quickly!"
Then, the two of them—one human and one demon—set off on their journey to Mount Sagiri, to find Sakonji Urokodaki.
In order to travel during the day, Tanjiro went to a nearby village and returned with a bamboo basket.
"Senpai, I'm back!" Tanjiro returned to the place where Haru and Nezuko were resting. Haru was sitting cross-legged outside a cave, and when he saw Tanjiro return, he simply replied, "You're back!"
Tanjiro nodded, and Haru glanced at the bamboo basket Tanjiro had brought, which was a bit leaky. He said, "Tanjiro, this bamboo basket won't work. It has holes in it! Demons really don't like sunlight!"
