Chapter 11: The Consequences of Honesty
Alex's decision to end things with Rachel was not taken lightly. He knew it would be a difficult conversation to have, but he also knew it was necessary.
As he walked to Rachel's dorm room, he felt a sense of trepidation. He knew Rachel would be upset, and he wasn't sure how she would react.
When he arrived at her room, Rachel answered the door with a mixture of anger and sadness on her face. "What do you want, Alex?" she spat.
Alex took a deep breath before speaking. "Rachel, I need to talk to you about us," he said, his voice gentle but firm. "I think we need to break up."
Rachel's face contorted in anger, and she slammed the door shut behind him. "You're doing this because of her, aren't you?" she shouted, her voice echoing down the hallway.
Alex nodded, feeling a sense of guilt wash over him. "Rachel, I'm sorry," he said. "I never meant to hurt you. But I have feelings for Maya, and I need to be honest with you and with myself."
Rachel's anger turned to tears, and she collapsed onto the bed, sobbing uncontrollably. Alex felt a pang of sadness and regret, knowing that he had caused her so much pain.
As he turned to leave, Rachel's words stopped him. "You'll regret this, Alex," she said, her voice cold and menacing. "You'll regret the day you ever met Maya."
Alex felt a shiver run down his spine as he realized that Rachel was not going to let him go without a fight.
