Chapter 10: The Aftermath
I stumbled back to my dorm, my body aching all over. I couldn't believe what had just happened. Rachel and her friends had beaten me up, and I knew that I had to report them.
As I walked into my dorm room, my roommate looked up at me in shock. "Maya, what happened to you?" she asked, her voice full of concern.
I tried to explain, but the words got caught in my throat. I felt a wave of emotions wash over me, and before I knew it, I was crying.
My roommate rushed over to me, wrapping her arms around me in a tight hug. "It's okay, Maya," she said. "We'll get through this together."
She helped me clean up my wounds and convinced me to go to the hospital to get checked out. As we walked to the hospital, I couldn't help but feel a sense of shame and embarrassment. I had let Rachel and her friends get the best of me.
At the hospital, the doctor examined me and confirmed that I had a few bruises and cuts, but nothing too serious. As I was getting ready to leave, I saw Alex walking towards me. He looked worried and scared.
"Maya, I'm so sorry," he said, his voice shaking. "I had no idea Rachel and her friends would do something like this."
I looked at him, feeling a mix of emotions. I was angry with him for not being honest with Rachel about our relationship, but at the same time, I felt bad for him. He was clearly torn between his loyalty to Rachel and his feelings for me.
"What are you going to do, Alex?" I asked him, my voice firm.
He took a deep breath before answering. "I'm going to end things with Rachel," he said. "I know it's not going to be easy, but I have to be honest with her. And with you."
I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Maybe, just maybe, we could get through this together.
