These workbooks and test papers were specially purchased by Xu Yang on his way here.
While researching the "Dawa Elementary paranormal incident" online, he'd learned about the impoverished conditions in these southern mountain villages a decade prior. Back then, students couldn't afford study materials—after school, they herded sheep, gathered firewood, dug medicinal roots...
Xu Yang assumed these ghost children would crave the learning opportunities they'd missed.
Yet when he produced the stack of worksheets, the spectral wailing intensified.
*Ding!*

Xu Yang's guilt deepened. Adopting a stern tone, he barked, "Stop crying! I'm here to help!"
*Ding!*

The cameraman and Peach watched dumbfounded as the robed figure scolded the weeping ghosts.
Eventually coaxing them into silence, Xu Yang distributed the materials. "These are gifts! Come claim your workbooks!"
The children's translucent hands passed through the paper.
"We're ghosts, uncle," sniffled the boy named Wang Xiaomao. "We can't touch them."
"Not a problem!" Xu Yang lit a workbook with his lighter. As ashes swirled, an identical workbook materialized in the boy's hands.
*Ding!*

Before the renewed wailing could escalate, crimson flames erupted in the classroom corner. Nine spectral fires merged into a towering inferno—a humanoid blaze with hollow eyes of emerald flame.
"It's the monster!" Wang Xiaomao hid behind Xu Yang's robes. "It ate Teacher Huang's soul! Please defeat it!"
The fire entity lunged. Xu Yang instinctively raised the peachwood sword.
*Whoosh!*
Flames scattered like shattered glass, reforming slightly diminished.
*Ding!*
[Fire Ghost frightened. Virtue Points +10. Pyrokinesis +1]
Xu Yang stared at his sword. "Since when does wood conduct... oh right, magic."
The fire ghost roared, its intelligence briefly overriding primal rage. This human's weapon radiated ancient power—the same energy that had purified its kind for millennia.
Madness reclaimed control. The entity charged again, met by Xu Yang's sweeping strike.
*Crack!*
Flames dispersed, recoalescing smaller still. Emerald eyes now flickered with tangible fear.
Xu Yang pressed his advantage, workbook in one hand and sword in the other. "Time for extra credit!"
