The left path

They walked for what seemed like hours and Elizabeth was certain she was going to faint before they got there.

She had no idea where they were headed and honestly maybe being expelled from this school on her second day wasn't so much of a bad idea.

Quinn seemed determined to get them to the cabin, she said they were at least seven cabins scattered around the woods and they just had to get to one. They had been heading west for hours and the sun was almost up.

Elizabeth had a lot of questions, what sicko builds seven cabins scattered around kn the forest and why did they, the freshmen have to find it without a map, what was this? A trial of instinct.

The more seconds she spent looking for this stupid cabin the more her curiosity grew and Quinn didn't seem like she was in the mood to answer questions.

They took another right, they had already formed a group with seven other kids, they didn't say anything but they followed them, like they were very certain her and Quinn knew the way.

This stupid test had better be worth it, she felt dirty and all she wanted was a shower, a hot one. She miss her July tub back home.

It was funny how she hadn't thought about home as often as she thought she would have. She wasn't even home sick.

A few more steps and they came across a fork in the road.

"What do we do now?" A quiet girl in the corner asked.

"We split up, some of us will have to go through the path on the right and some of us will have to go left." Quinn replied grabbing Elizabeth's hand and pull her towards the right path.

Elizabeth stayed put, something about that path was cold, like it led to nowhere but a dead end. Elizabeth could feel it.

"Let's go left." She said allowed.

Quinn looked at her, she hadn't said a word since they started walking and even if the path she had decided would probably earn them a strike she was determined to follow her new friends instinct.

After all, it wasn't her fault she wasn't like the rest of them.

Looking back at the group behind them, some took steps back, shaking their heads in disagreement.

Quinn shrugged, pulling her friend by the arm they continued their journey taking the left path. A few others followed them, trailing behind cautiously.

Elizabeth took in her surroundings, taking not of fallen trees and foreign flowers in case they had to turn back.

She feared her instincts might get them a strike but she knew that the other path was a dead end, she didn't know how she could feel it, but it was a very strong feeling.

They walked for approximately five minutes before they stumbled across it, a red cabin in the woods, with the carving of what had to be a phoenix on the roof.

The group behind them let out a breath of relief, some even going as far as shedding tears.

Liz was no different, she would have kissed the ground if it wasn't for the fact that she was certain her legs would give out on her on her way back up.

Quinn looked back at her friend, she was far from impressed. Even she hadn't felt this cabin when they had gotten to the fork in the road.

Perhaps Elizabeth Thorn wasn't as normal as everyone thought.

"Let's go inside and hopefully shower." Elizabeth groaned her hand reaching for the door handle.

But just like when she tried to open her dorm door, door opened on its own, only this time it went into the room and not smaking her in the face.

By the threshold stood a body, covered in dark garments.

"You are all late!"
