It took them an hour to get to their destination, they had made too many pit stops due to her easily being famished.
Being late was something he hated, the scowl on his face said that very much, matter of fact she was scared when he didn't push her into the depths of the woods or leave her to fend for herself.
Either ways that didn't matter as she followed him, taking note of how fewer the freshmen had become in the open field.
They stood apart in groups, whispering among themselves.
And a few of them stood far off to the side, she recognised them as the group that had gone down the right path.
"Why are you late?" The principal asked staring at her guide in shock.
He didn't reply, simply letting out a grunt and looking in her direction.
Well it was good to know that she wasn't the only one getting the silent treatment.
"Ah Ms Thorn, you look rather… please go wait with your group." The principal stated, shock written on his face as he stared at her exhausted figure.
She did as she was told. Falling in line with her group as Quinn fussed about her and how red her cheeks were.
"It's the first time I'm a while that you've had a group, which one do you think found your cabin?" The principal whispered looking back at Elizabeth as he watched her converse with the others.
The only reply he got was a grunt.
Typical.
"So what are we doing here?" Elizabeth questioned picking at the grass.
"The golden test starts here. Don't you know why you are here?" Quinn replied looking at her in a manner that said she was supposed to have knowledge of something.
"I'm here because my dad thought it would be a good idea for me to attend this boarding school." She recited looking at Quin in a confused manner.
"No, that's your cover up story so the humans don't suspect… you're not mortal right?" Quinn questioned staring at her wide eyed.
Mortal? Of course she was human what else would she be.
" Liz, if were a mortal, you wouldn't have awoken after taking the wine they served us last night for dinner."
Wine?
Survived?
This was all to much for her to understand and she could feel the tell signs of an anxiety attack.
"Liz the person that sent you here knew you weren't human, what are you?"
What was she, she was human for Pete's sake, human and very much mortal.
She stood up her legs barely carrying her, she wanted to find the words that Quinn said stupid.
But something in her knew it was true, something in her… the things she saw by the corner of her eyes weren't just her mind playing tricks with her.
She wasn't normal.
She stumbled, she didn't know where she was going but it felt like she was deaf only hearing radio static.
But then an arm wrapped around her and a cool voice whispered…
"Where do you think you're going?"
That seemed to snap her out of her days, as she looked up at the person whose arms were around her.
He looked familiar, or at least his striking silver eyes looked familiar, and he felt warm.
"What is this place?" She croaked.
"Evacrest, school for the immortal and supernaturals."
All she remembers after that was the world going dark.
