Thunder Pt. 3

Raiden Mei once more burst into action, with all types of magnetic objects flung at me. She had disappeared once more, my eyes still not being able to catch her motion.

But that didn't matter anymore.

Because my eyes could now see more than just what was in front of me...

They also saw what would be.

I just stood there casually once more as the attacks screeched to a halt inches from my skin, the warped space around me shimmering faintly. All of them had been placed under Infinity's blacklist before they had even appeared before me.

My focus was not on these things. Rather, it was locked onto the inevitable conclusion set by Epitaph, at a certain empty space in front of me.

I took a few unhurried steps forwards, the clanging of metal objects hitting the floor not disturbing me.

Then, I threw a kick.

A small boom sounded as I felt my foot collide with flesh. Mei skidded backwards, the sound of wood clattering on the floor as she dropped her wooden Kendo sword.

Hints of black- a bruise, very quickly started showing on her forearm which was where I kicked. By the looks of that trembling arm, she clearly couldn't use that arm properly anymore.

So her durability isn't as good as her firepower huh? I wasn't using anywhere close to full force.

"You didn't see me." Mei said as a matter of fact. "Something about you has changed, something that let you hit me."

"Rather than thinking so much over there, you really should get your arm checked out Mei."

"This but a scratch"

"Errmmm ackshually-"

Mei stopped me with a raised palm. "I am not in the mood for jokes anymore Gojo Satoru."

Hmm, I guess I must have really hit a nerve this time.

"I have been tolerant of all your jesting and hogwash, but I think…" Mei's uninjured arm started charging with Honkai energy. "… it's time…"

"We finished this…"

I stayed in position as Mei lifted her arm. Purple sparks blazed, causing the entire hallway to be dyed purple. The burning smell of ozone surrounded me as the damaged hallway continued crumbling.

The lightning in Mei's arm started to take form, but at the moment, I still could not tell what it was forming.

I did not care.

Because it did not matter now.

"Mei... you can't do that anymore."

At that, Raiden Mei's eyes widened. The mass of thunder and lightning on her uninjured arm dispersed, like it was never there in the first place, before she dropped on one knee.

"I've... hit my limit already?" Mei looked down with a slight tremble. "So quickly? I thought I had more time..."

The purple haired girl's eyes began to flicker between indigo and pink. She gritted her teeth as she forced herself to look up at me.

"You're lucky this time." Mei sneered. "Next time, I'll peel off your scales before subjugating you..."

Wow... that totally wasn't ominous was it?

After sending one last threat, Mei's expression softened and her eyelids dropped. Then, her figure collapsed onto the cracked flooring.

I let out a phew as I deactivated Epitaph and Infinity. Keeping that many things on my blacklist was pretty tiring already, and keeping both up would be pretty annoying.

I guess I could adapt this weakness away, but for now, I'm quite constrained by this weakness.

The sound of walls crumbling brought me out of my thoughts, causing me to look around.

Oh right... the damage of our fight...

This school building looked like it was going to collapse at any moment.

Letting out a sigh, I looked into the infirmary.

No one there. Good.

It seems like the nurse had gone out for something. It did make sense, considering that she probably would be screaming her throat out if she was still in the infirmary during all of... that.

"Gojo! What's going on?"

Kiana?

"What are you doing here? I thought you were trapped in class?"

"Heh, there's no way a crappy class can stop me!" Kiana gloated. Her expression quickly turned serious as she looked around, before finally locking in on Mei. "Is that..."

"Yup, ou-"

"That girl you were stalking on Homugram during lunch?"

Damn it Kiana...

"How did she end up like this? Was there some sort of Honkai beast here or something?"

Honkai beast?

Oh boy... that was a whole new can of worms to open.

Can this world please a bit simpler? I really don't want to have to deal with all this BS.

Next thing you know there was going to be cultivators popping out of the woodwork and dropping huge swords on me.

Crack

I blinked.

And then the ceiling started coming down above us.

--------------------------------------------------------

Placing the unconscious Mei beside a tree, Kiana and I let out a sigh as we watched the school building partially start crumbling down.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, I knew that the both of us were definitely feeling a hint of joy at this.

We are likely getting some days off due to this.

Luckily, it seems like the school had already evacuated the students to the field outside the school ahead of time, so this collapse didn't cause any losses to lives.

Though it may have caused tens of millions of dollars though.

"Has she been corrupted by Honkai?" Kiana asked with worry in her voice.

"Probably. I'm not too sure right now. She did all sorts of funky stuff, like shooting lightning and stuff."

Kiana frowned. "She wasn't using a weapon to do that?"

"Don't think so. It looked like she was firing them from her fingertips."

"... I've never seen someone do that straight up with Honkai before."

So... this was something special then? Is it just Kiana's lack of knowledge, or is Raiden Mei's situation actually some sort of kept secret?

Either way, this was not good.

A groan interrupted our conversation, causing us to look at the source.

Raiden Mei was beginning to stir from her unconsciousness.

She shifted slightly in place, letting out a sharp gasp from her throat when she moved her bruised arm. At this point, that arm was beginning to swell up quite a bit.

"You beat her up?" Kiana whispered to me.

I didn't reply.

Mei's eyes trembled, then slowly fluttered open. She recoiled a bit from the sun, but when she fully opened her eyes and saw us, a look of dismayed confusion appeared on her face.

"Wha- what's going on?"
