Chapter 14

"Hey you, you're finally awake."

Mei seemed somewhat at a loss as she heard my reply. She looked around a bit before wincing at the pain on her arm.

"Be careful there senpai!" Kiana said as she ran over to her. "Your arm looks really bad…"

"My… arm?"

"It's pretty bad. You passed out just as the school building started going down so I guess a rock hit your arm or something." I cut in before Kiana could say anything else.

I promptly ignored Kiana's deadpan stare at me.

Mei seemed shocked as her face paled. "Ah, the school building collapsed?"

"There was a big boom too!" Kiana added on for me.

Huh, I'm pleasantly surprised. Kiana rolled with my cover story really quickly. I thought she was a bit… slower than that.

But I guess looking for your dad for who knows how many years by yourself does tend to make you a bit quicker on your feet.

"Do you remember anything Raiden-senpai?" I asked.

Now the thing that I need to look out for now is how Mei was going to respond.

I needed to confirm whether she had memories at all of the scenario, and to confirm whether the previous personality was really someone else rather than her just pretending.

"Not… really, I was just walking over to the infirmary and then I blacked out."

She's not lying.

That was relieving.

"So… the two of you saved me?" Mei asked hesitantly. She was holding onto her hurt arm tightly with the other, yet still making the effort to get to her feet. Kiana noticed and immediately helped her up as well.

"We were just in the area." I waved it off. "Anyone else who saw you would have done the same, right Kiana?"

Kiana stalled for a moment, before responding with a big smile, "Of course!"

Hearing that, Mei let out a reluctant smile, "Yea… yeah…"

"Raiden Mei! You're here! Thank goodness you're alive!"

All of us turned to the source of the voice, only to be met with a thin old, lady wearing an office dress running over.

The principal of Chiba Academy.

As she arrived, she ignored both Kiana and I as she went up to check on Mei's body.

Wow… that was pretty blatant favouritism no?

But… I guess that works out for us.

I wanted to signal Kiana with my eyes to dip out but stopped when I heard the principal mutter something under her breath.

"If Ryoma found out he'd have my head…"

I guess she must have seen the bruise.

And Mei seemed to have heard it as well as she stiffened a bit.

Hmm…

"Principal… aren't you going to check on the others too?"

"Oh?" The principal turned over to Kiana and I. "Are the two of you ok?"

Come on principal… you can at least hide it a bit better than that…

Kiana did not seem to care too much as she just gave a nod. I just gave a nod as well.

"Mei, let's get you to the hospital as soon as possible. This bruise on your arm is terrible." the principal said with a sour face.

"Give me a second." Mei said to the principal as her attention turned to us. "Can I know your names? I'd like to thank you for saving me."

Kiana gleamed. "I'm Kiana Kaslana!"

Then, she pointed over to me. "And that guy's Gojo! What's your name, senpai?"

Mei seemed somewhat surprised at Kiana's question back, but it turned into a blush. "Sorry, that was rude of me to not introduce myself first. My name is Raiden Mei."

"Alright. That's enough for now. Getting you to the hospital is more urgent. You can thank them more later."

Mei finally seemed to relent at that as she let herself be let away by the principal. She still gave a respectful nod before she left though.

Not going to lie, she was a pretty nice girl.

If only her other half didn't try to kill me that is.

As Mei and the principal left the area for now, Kiana whispered to me. "I kinda get why you were stalking her now."

I just sighed.

—————————————————-

Back at home, I received a message from Kiana.

[Kiana: Y doesn't the principal treat you like Mei-senpai? Aren't you rich too?]

[Gojo: Do u see me on the newspapers?]

[Kiana: oh yea]

And at that I turned off my phone.

Now onto another pressing issue- inspecting my new ability…

I immediately threw a rubber ball I bought before I had gone home at the wall. The moment it rebounded, a pink face appeared on my forehead again.

Epitaph.

The world in front of my eyes shifted as a vision appeared in front of me. In that vision, I clearly saw the ball being stopped inches before it hit me, clearly stopped by Infinity.

As the vision faded away, the ball was at the exact same place when I had activated Epitaph.

It followed the exact same pattern, same trajectory as it made its way towards me.

However, I suddenly raised my hand to grab the ball midway.

I had changed the future that I had seen.

And that was a very vital and amazing change for Epitaph. If it were the same as it was in JoJo, where the future seen was locked in fate, then this ability would have been useless to me without King Crimson, or some other sort of fate changing ability.

The drawback for this buff however, was that I could only see one second into the future for each activation instead and I had to keep spamming it every time I made a change to get a good understanding of the future as I change it.

But if that were the case… why did adaptation use Epitaph as its name and looks?

Maybe… it was actually influenced by my own thoughts and experiences

That made quite a bit of sense to me, considering Mahoraga developed the World Cutting Slash after Sukuna had prompting him to continue adapting.

There were so many adaptations possible for Mahoraga to get, but why one that fit Sukuna's cursed technique so much just after he asked him for another?

So maybe to overcome Mei's overwhelming speed, it gave me the ability to predict her actions, but in the form of an ability I had seen before?

But does anime from past life honestly act the same as Sukuna's literal cursed technique?

No idea.

But hey, you don't look a gift horse in the mouth right?

If it gave me good stuff, I'm going to take it.

Letting out a yawn, I went back to bed, hopeful that news of the school being closed down would be given tomorrow.

(A/N: How was the chapter? Please give me some criticism so I know where I can improve. If you liked it, please give me some powerstones.

Also, what type of domain do you guys think would fit Gojo right now? Unlimited Void? Something else?)
