Chapter 4

"How could I ever scold you? I already said it's for you. Since Dashiell brought it here, I'll put it on you right away."

Sarah stepped forward and coldly snatched the small box from my hand.

Only then did I realize that inside wasn't something important.

It was the only bracelet left behind after her mother passed away.

Back when the company was in dire straits, Sarah had pawned it off.

Once, she gazed absent-mindedly at a photo of the bracelet on her phone, so I decided to sell my blood to earn money and redeem the bracelet.

Later, she said this bracelet could only be passed down to the son-in-law of the Carlisle family.

I waited for a long time.

I never expected that today, she would give the bracelet to Quint, the implication was crystal clear!

I bit my tongue, my mouth filling with the taste of blood as I forcibly suppressed the emotions welling up inside me.

"Now that the item has been delivered, I'll take my leave."

I had barely taken two steps when Quint rushed forward and grabbed me.

That bracelet was already on his wrist, swinging back and forth.

"Big bro, why are you in such a hurry to leave? Is it because you don't want to see me?"

"I know you've never liked me since we were kids. You always thought Mom and Dad favored me, so you're mad at me!I can't lie, in that moment, Quint stirred up every emotion in the depths of my heart.

Even though I no longer had any desire for the bracelet, he brought up things from our childhood.

Ever since we were little, he'd bullied me and taken my things. Now he was even stealing my man!

My emotions suddenly erupted like a volcano.

I had barely reached out my hand, not even touching his body.

Quint let out a sudden shriek, dramatically falling to the ground and clutching his stomach while wailing in pain.

Sarah rushed over in a flash, knocking me down as she carefully helped Quint up.

"Dashiell, have you lost your mind? You know full well that Quint's health is fragile, yet you dare to push him!"

I fell to the ground, the palms of my hands scraped raw and bleeding.

But this pain was nothing compared to Sarah's harsh rebuke.

"You're absolutely heartless, willing to brutally attack even your own brother! How could someone like you ever be worthy of being my boyfriend?"

"Please don't say that, Sarah. It's all my fault for angering my brother and making him push me."

"The fact that you're concerned about the baby in my belly is more than enough for me. I'll leave for my hometown tomorrow and never bother my brother again."

He stood up, turning to leave.Sarah quickly grabbed Quint's arm.

"Quint, this isn't your fault. You don't need to leave!"

She turned to glare at me coldly, her words cutting deep.

"If anyone should go, it's Dashiell - that vicious man!"

"Besides, this is the mansion I bought for you. What right does he have to be here?"

I stared at Sarah in disbelief, my breath catching in my throat. I was speechless.

Of course, every brick and beam here belonged to Sarah and Quint. What claim did I, Dashiell, have to any of it?

If I wasn't welcome, there was no reason for me to pathetically linger.

My voice came out through clenched teeth, one word at a time.

"Fine. I'll go."

Before leaving, I looked calmly at Sarah.

"The news of your marriage to Quint has already been discovered online, along with details of your garden stroll and return to the mansion today."

A flicker of regret and guilt flashed in Sarah's eyes. She opened her mouth but couldn't utter a word, eventually ducking her head in panic to carefully comfort the still-startled Quint.

I limped out of the gated community, waiting for a ride at the curb.
