Chapter 3

Sarah furrowed her brow, her eyes fixed on me intently, as if trying to detect any lies in my words.

For the first time, I felt that the man before me was somewhat difficult to deal with.

I raised my eyebrows, deliberately mocking her.

"My dear brother's darling, are you worried about me now?"

"Come to think of it, our current relationship is not exactly socially acceptable!"

"You're busy taking care of Quint all day now. When will you start caring about the company's affairs?"

In the next second, Sarah's attention was indeed diverted.

She frowned, her gaze instantly turning cold.

"I've explained this many times already. I don't want to discuss such a boring topic with you again."

With that, she returned to the bedroom, and soon came out with a piece of clothing.

"It seems you need some time to cool off. When you're able to calm down, I'll come back and have a proper talk with you."

Before leaving, Sarah said to me disappointedly in the gap of the closing door.

"Dashiell, your petty behavior right now really disgusts me."

With a bang, the door slammed shut.

In that instant, my head was buzzing.

Boring? Petty?

So this is how much she despises me now.The tears that had only recently subsided in my eyes welled up again, and the chill that hadn't fully left my fingertips returned.

I sat on the couch, lost in thought, for who knows how long.

Sarah doesn't know that right now, I'm actually incredibly calm.

I picked up my phone to check the company's recent performance and estimate the value of my shares.

Suddenly, a notification popped up from the local trending news.

Two familiar faces appeared, along with a candid photo.

[Famous entrepreneur Sarah moves in with new husband, spotted together. Pregnancy rumors swirl!]

Sarah, beaming with joy, walked arm-in-arm with Quint through the park.

Finally, the two entered the same villa together.

A feeling of betrayal washed over me once again.

No wonder she grabbed a few clothes and left so abruptly, leaving me alone to "cool off."

It was just an excuse for her to get out.

Calming myself, I exited the trending news when Sarah suddenly messaged me.

[Dashiell, I forgot a box in my safe. Could you bring it over? I'm waiting at Quint's villa.]

Though I was a bit surprised she'd suddenly send me this kind of message. But I knew everything in the safe was important, and I was worried about messing things up. After much deliberation, I still decided to bring the box over to her.

In front of the mansion.

Sarah was sitting on the swing, with Quint patiently pushing her from behind.

My appearance was like shattering this peaceful and beautiful scene.

"Big brother, you're here. I haven't seen you in so long."

He walked out from behind the swing, but Sarah immediately darkened her face, glaring with rage, her eyes flashing with fury.

"Who told you to come here? Dashiell, you're completely out of control. Now you even dare to stalk me!"

Before I could speak, the expression on her face looked like she wanted to devour me whole.

"Sister Sarah, I asked big brother to come."

"Didn't you say the family heirloom in the safe was for me? I couldn't wait, so I asked big brother to bring it to me. If you want to scold someone, scold me!"

Seeing Quint's pitiful look, Sarah immediately loosened her tightly knitted brows, her tone even carrying a hint of tenderness.
