CHAPTER FOUR
Elara's pov
I snuggled on the sofa and watched the raindrops fall against the windowpane as I relieved all the events of the previous day. How was it possible that my life could change so drastically in just twenty four hours?
Ronan flashed into my thoughts as I recalled how his drenched shirt clung to his muscles, something within me desperately wanted to run my fingers along his muscles arms. I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that he was my mate, it was unreal. As though my senses had a mind of their own, I fisted the white shirt I wore and brought it up to my nose, sniffing the sandwood and cinnamon scent clinging to the shirt.
A knock at my door broke into my thoughts.
"Come in" I muttered and a few seconds later the door creaked.
"I could hardly believe it when Alpha Ronan told me he found his mate" a high pit he'd feminine voice pierced through the silence. I reluctantly tired towards the chubby woman who looked no more than twenty three with her lips stretched upwards.
"Who are you?" I asked bluntly and her lips parted slightly before stretching back upwards.
"Diana, Callan's wife" she introduced herself.
"Who is Callan?" I questioned.
"Oh I'm sorry I just assumed Alpha Ronan would have already introduced you, silly when you came back in the dead of the night" she rambled as she avoided my gaze and I realized she was nervous.
"Callan is Alpha Ronan's beta and very good friend. I'm his mate" she divulged and I nodded slowly.
"Elara" I said in response and her lips stretched upwards so wide I was afraid it would split.
"We have a lot to do" she claps her hands excitedly.
"What do you mean?" I quirked a brow.
"You don't have any clothes and you have to meet all the pack members. We'll head to town as soon as possible" she said.
"All that won't be necessary. I don't intend on staying here for long" I revealed.
"What?" She blanked.
"My visit to your pack is only temporary. I expect to return to my pack at my earliest convenience" I looked away as her lips turned downwards.
"But you are Alpha Ronan's mate thus the Luna of this pack" she informed me as though I didn't already know that.
"There has to be some mistake. I don't know Ronan and I don't want to be a Luna" I said and the woman gasped.
"Don't you feel the mate bond?" She inquired.
"I don't believe in feeling a pull towards someone because of some invisible bond" I gritted out.
"The moon goddess has already fated it, nothing can be done" she told me soberly.
"I also don't believe in fate" the corners of my lips tugged upwards as I stared at her priceless expression.
She remained silent for a moment before she huffed and trained her eyes back at me.
"Alpha Ronan wants to see you in his study, I'll take you there" she muttered.
I followed silently behind me, a part of me sad for bringing down her high spirits but I couldn't indulge her.
Now with light streaming in through the windows the pack house looks more magnificent than it did last night. This place was fit for royalty and something about the brown and white hue of the walls exuded peace and tranquility.
We stopped in front of a mahogany door and she turned to me.
"We are here. If you change your mind about this pack or if you need anything at all you could just find me" she gave a small smile which didn't reach her eyes before she walked away.
I let out a shaky breath before I rapped on the door.
"Come in" his deep voice boomed and I slowly slipped into the room. The first thing that assaults my senses is the scent of sandwood and cinnamon which wafts around the room. My eyes scan the neat white office and land on Ronan who is sitting behind a large oakwood table.
The lightening last night did him no justice and as loathed as I am to admit it, he looked devastating handsome. He stood from his chair and walked calmly towards me and every instinct in me screamed to flee from him. He was dangerous to me.
He was clad in a plain white tee, matching the one I had on, and a pair of black shorts. Up close I could clearly see the scars engraved along his arms, brandished as though they were tattoos.
His silver eyes flashed as he took in my appearance and by the scent on the shirt I could only assume it was his.
"How was your night?" He broke the silence between us as he came to a stop right in front of me.
"It was alright" I mumbled.
"You've met Diana. If you need anything and you can't reach me all you have to do is tell her" he commands to which I nodded mutely.
I looked everywhere but at his face, unsure if I could control my already erratic heart.
"You look delectable in my shirt" his voice was husky and from how close we stood, I could feel the heat from his body drawing me in. Everything in me wanted to crawl into his strong arms and remain there but I fought off the urge.
My eyes snap up to his and my breath hitched as his silver orbs were several shades darker, almost pitch black. They stared at me with blantant desire and I had to stifle a groan.
"Don't say things like that" I whispered.
"It's the truth" he countered.
"You are only feeling this way because of the bond" I retorted.
"I don't care what is making me feel this way all I know in this moment is that I want to throw you over that table and make love to you slowly before I mark and claim you as mine forever" he growled and my lips parted at the viciousness of his words.
"If you aren't too busy trying to fight the bond you would agree that you feel this too" he ran a hand through his wavy hair.
"I don't" I swallowed wishing he wouldn't call me out on my blatant lie.
His hand reached out and circled around my waist, drawing me flush against him.
"What are you doing?" My eyes widened in panic as my heart beat loudly in my chest.
My hands settled on his firm chest and I looked up to find him already watching me.
"I'm trying to figure you out" he cocked his head to the side as though I was a puzzle he was trying to solve.
"Let go of me" I pleaded as everything in me seemed to melt.
"Your lips tell me one thing but your eyes beg for another" he whispered hotly against my lips. I swallowed as his lips were dangerously close to mine and I held my breath in anticipation of what was to come, everything inside me begging him to kiss me.
