Seeing Li Chang'an standing there dumbfounded, Huang Ming wasn't surprised.
"Stop wasting time. Hurry up!"
Huang Ming kicked Li Chang'an's butt, prompting him to scurry off to change his clothes.
Li Chang'an didn't ask any more questions. He already knew Huang Ming was no ordinary person, which only strengthened his resolve to follow him.
"Tonight, we're going to Building 5 to rescue someone. Our goal is to bring her back to Building 10."
While Li Chang'an changed, Huang Ming explained the mission.
"Damn, Ming, Building 5 is the farthest from us. Who knows how many zombies are out there? Are you crazy?"
Li Chang'an paused, looking at Huang Ming with suspicion, as if the nighttime mission was a suicide mission.
Huang Ming had anticipated this reaction and quickly explained:
"I scouted the area with a drone this afternoon. As long as you're in one piece, we can easily handle the zombies on the way. Plus, someone will be operating a drone to guide us tonight."
"Holy crap, Ming, you even have a drone? You should've said so earlier! You almost scared me to death!"
Li Chang'an resumed putting on his gear. His large frame, mostly fat, would make survival in the apocalypse difficult without some exercise.
Huang Ming pulled out some workout equipment from his spatial dimension and placed it in Li Chang'an's living room.
He then took out two boxes of Bai Xiang instant noodles and placed them on the dining table, along with a few packs of sausages.
"Fatso, make sure to exercise when you have time. Otherwise, surviving in the future will be tough. The food on the table should last you a month. Don't slack off—eat when you need to, and exercise when you should."
"Got it, Ming哥! Don't worry, I'll start working out tomorrow!"
Li Chang'an's eyes lit up at the sight of the workout equipment and the instant noodles. He was practically drooling.
"Let's go!"
Seeing Li Chang'an fully geared up, Huang Ming straightened up and prepared to head out.
**May 29th, Midnight**
The night was dark, with the moon half-hidden behind clouds. A faint light filtered through, casting a dim glow over the campus.
By now,
Huang Ming and Li Chang'an had reached the lobby on the first floor.
The main door was locked, and only Auntie Li had access. The entrance was also barricaded with heavy objects to prevent zombies from breaking in.
Forcing their way out would cause unnecessary trouble, so Huang Ming decided to climb out through a window.
He and Li Chang'an first observed the surroundings through the window, ensuring it was safe before jumping out.
Li Chang'an, due to his size, stumbled and fell face-first. Huang Ming quickly helped him up, barely holding back his laughter.
"Shuang'er, are you there?"
"I'm here. Everything around Building 10 is clear. No zombies in sight. Are you ready to move?"
"Yeah, scout ahead for us. Report anything unusual over the radio."
"Understood!"
Huang Ming brushed the dust off Li Chang'an's back, took a deep breath, and stepped forward.
"Let's go. Time to work."
Not far ahead, a zombie spotted them. Like a starving beast, it lunged at Huang Ming.
Huang Ming's eyes narrowed, a slight smirk forming on his lips. With a flick of his wrist, he unsheathed his katana.
In one swift motion, he delivered a diagonal slash. Before the zombie could get close, its head was already rolling on the ground.
Seeing the severed head, its grotesque face still twitching, Huang Ming stabbed the katana through its skull, silencing it for good.
Over the past month, Huang Ming had been training his stamina and explosive power, even learning basic martial arts from videos. Killing a few zombies was child's play for him.
Li Chang'an, watching Huang Ming's fluid movements, was visibly impressed. He unsheathed his own blade, eager to try.
"Fatso, don't get cocky. Don't let your guard down. Kill them quickly—this isn't a game."
Seeing Li Chang'an getting carried away, Huang Ming reminded him, not wanting him to panic and get himself killed if multiple zombies attacked.
"Don't worry, Ming. I'm scared to death!"
With the drone scouting ahead, the two moved forward, eventually reaching Building 5.
The most dangerous moment came when three zombies suddenly ambushed Huang Ming.
Instead of retreating, he charged forward. In a flash, he took down one zombie, then quickly created distance to gain maneuvering space.
He turned back and finished off the second zombie, then easily dispatched the third. It was a close call but ultimately successful.
"Shuang'er, scout the area with the drone. I'm going to contact Gu Anqing."
"Roger that!"
Shuang'er acknowledged and began operating the drone to survey the surroundings.
"Fatso, keep an eye out. I'm making a call."
As he spoke, Huang Ming dialed Gu Anqing's number.
"Hello? This is Anqing."
"Yeah, are you in the lobby?"
"Yes! The door's locked. I can't get out."
"Climb out through the window on the right. We're waiting outside."
"Got it. I'll jump out now. Hang up first!"
After ending the call, Huang Ming and Li Chang'an positioned themselves under the right window, scanning the area for any sudden zombie appearances.
This was Building 5, close to Building 1, unlike the relatively safe Building 10. Huang Ming couldn't afford to be careless, not even blinking.
"Huang Ming! Bad news. Zombies from Building 1 are heading your way—about ten of them. I don't know if it's because of the drone."
Shuang'er's anxious voice came through the radio, her breathing heavy.
Huang Ming's heart raced. He cursed inwardly: *What's taking Gu Anqing so long?*
"Shuang'er, calm down and estimate how long it'll take for them to reach us from Building 1."
A brief silence followed.
Two minutes later, Shuang'er spoke:
"Assuming nothing goes wrong, they'll reach the entrance of Building 5 in about five minutes. But if they spot you early and go berserk, they could be on you in two or three minutes."
Just then, Huang Ming's phone vibrated. Thankfully, he'd set it to silent, but the vibration still startled him, sending a chill down his spine.
"Senior, what's going on? Hurry up and jump out. We're running out of time!"
"I'm right under the window, but I can't reach it. I can't climb up!"
!!!
Huang Ming was on the verge of a breakdown.
He cursed inwardly: *Is this girl 1.5 meters tall or just too weak to climb
