Chapter 18: The Drone Issue?

Huang Ming pulled a sandwich and a bottle of milk from his spatial dimension and handed them to Gu Anqing.

"Senior, you're relatively clean. Sit for a while. I need to clean up quickly!"

Gu Anqing was once again stunned by Huang Ming's ability to pull items out of thin air. This time, she saw it clearly—it wasn't a hallucination!

At this moment, she finally understood why Liu Shuang'er had told her she'd never have to worry about food or shelter again.

Gu Anqing was a top student, and she quickly sensed that Huang Ming was no ordinary person. She didn't ask questions, knowing only a fool would pry.

The gloom in her heart vanished. If she had to spend her life with a man like this, it wouldn't be so bad.

Thinking this,

her cheeks flushed slightly, and her hands trembled as she held the sandwich and milk.

Gu Anqing was starving, her throat moving as she swallowed hard, but she didn't dare eat until Huang Ming gave the okay.

Seeing this,

Huang Ming found it amusing. She was just as obedient as Liu Shuang'er had been when she first arrived.

"Go ahead, it's for you. If you're not satisfied, I can get you something else."

"N-no, I'm very satisfied! Thank you!"

Gu Anqing shook her head vigorously, like a rattle-drum.

She shared the same thought Liu Shuang'er had initially—there couldn't possibly be anything better than this sandwich and milk.

"Alright, you two chat. By the way, Shuang'er, there are some ingredients in the kitchen. Why don't you make her a hot meal?"

With that, Huang Ming headed straight to the bathroom to clean and disinfect himself, then took a relaxing hot shower.

When he stepped out of the bathroom, Gu Anqing was eating the noodles Liu Shuang'er had prepared—a steaming bowl of beef noodles, fresh off the stove.

Huang Ming stretched lazily, grabbed a bottle of 1982 Sprite from the fridge, and plopped down on the sofa.

Seeing Huang Ming come out of the shower, Liu Shuang'er also grabbed a bottle of juice from the fridge and sat next to him, clinging to his arm in an unusually intimate manner.

This made Huang Ming a bit uncomfortable. What was she up to? She hadn't been like this before.

Huang Ming's eyes narrowed as he realized something. It seemed Gu Anqing's arrival had made her feel threatened.

He muttered to himself:

*"Is Shuang'er worried I'll neglect her?"*

*"What the hell!"*

*"Do I seem like the type to abandon someone after winning them over?"*

*"Well, this might be good. A little competition between them benefits me!"*

Snapping out of his thoughts, he pinched Liu Shuang'er's cheek.

"Shuang'er, did you explain my situation to her?"

"Yeah, she's smart. A few hints were enough for her to understand."

That might be true,

but Huang Ming still wanted to talk to Gu Anqing himself. He got up and sat across from her. She was slurping her beef noodles, looking particularly adorable.

Liu Shuang'er, pouting, moved from the sofa to sit next to Huang Ming, her expression full of委屈.

Huang Ming ignored Liu Shuang'er's antics and said to Gu Anqing:

"Senior, is the food to your liking? There's more if you're still hungry."

"People who are too hungry shouldn't eat too much at once. It can cause gastritis. Plus, eating too much late at night isn't good for you."

Liu Shuang'er suddenly interjected, glaring at Huang Ming,

as if to say: *"You're quite concerned about others, huh? You weren't this enthusiastic when I first arrived!"*

Gu Anqing set down her chopsticks and said contentedly:

"Huang Ming! Thank you! I'm full. Shuang'er's right—eating too much at night isn't good."

"Alright, then go take a shower. There are a lot of germs outside. Clean up properly."

Huang Ming pulled out a set of lace pajamas and underwear from his spatial dimension and handed them to her.

"If they don't fit, let me know. I'm not sure about your size."

As he spoke, Huang Ming sneakily glanced at her ample chest,

but Liu Shuang'er caught him in the act, rolling her eyes so hard they nearly disappeared.

"Okay, I'll go shower now!"

With that, Gu Anqing got up and hurried to the bathroom.

The atmosphere suddenly turned awkward. Liu Shuang'er seemed to have knocked over a醋坛子 (vinegar jar), pouting adorably.

Huang Ming hugged her and kissed her for a while before she finally calmed down. Ah, women!

Less than half an hour later,

Gu Anqing emerged from the bathroom, wearing the lace pajamas that fit her perfectly.

As she raised her arms to towel-dry her hair, the loose sleeves revealed a glimpse of her figure. Huang Ming couldn't help but notice—very large, very white.

Liu Shuang'er pinched Huang Ming's thigh, snapping him out of his daze before he could start drooling.

Gu Anqing, now with her hair dried, sat cross-legged on the sofa and said with lingering fear:

"Shuang'er, I can't believe I actually survived! I ran out of food today. If you hadn't come to rescue me, I'd have been starving tomorrow."

"Hmph! Now you know how good I am! You were so stubborn in our messages. I practically talked myself hoarse!"

Liu Shuang'er crossed her arms, curling her toes, looking like she wouldn't let this go.

The two of them started bickering, but Huang Ming didn't pay much attention. He was lost in thought, replaying the events of the night.

"Shuang'er, there's something I don't understand. Do you remember when you said a group of zombies from Building 1 suddenly started moving toward us? What caused that? Was it the drone?"

Liu Shuang'er, always attentive, immediately stopped joking and began pondering seriously.

Gu Anqing, as a skilled mechanical engineer, took the drone and examined it carefully before speaking up:

"Huang Ming, I can confidently say it wasn't the drone. If it were, we would've attracted zombies on our way back."

"Anqing's right. If it were the drone, we would've attracted zombies not just on the way back, but also while moving forward. But that didn't happen. It definitely wasn't the drone."

Liu Shuang'er also recalled her experience operating the drone that night and added her thoughts.

"If it wasn't the drone, why did a group of zombies from Building 1 move toward Building 5? Unless..."

Huang Ming trailed off, swallowing hard, a chill running down his spine.

Liu Shuang'er and Gu Anqing exchanged glances, both realizing what Huang Ming was implying. It seemed almost unbelievable.

"Huang Ming! If it's really what you're thinking, then things are serious. Something big might happen tomorrow."

Liu Shuang'er couldn't help but speak up. Gu Anqing, still confused, asked curiously:

"Something big? What do you mean?"

"Shuang'er's right. The people in our building plan to go to the cafeteria tomorrow morning to move supplies. They've already taken two-thirds today and plan to get the rest at dawn."

Huang Ming briefly explained what had happened in the building that day. Once Gu Anqing understood the situation, she said:

"Oh no! If it's really what we're thinking, then something terrible could happen. Huang Ming! Aren't you going to stop them?"
