Chapter 47: Forming a Small Team

Upon learning that Li Qingya was the mutated zombie, Lu Yisi looked at Gu Anqing with disbelief, but quickly regained her composure with confidence. She finally had a chance to showcase her talents!

"My god! It was Professor Li? She was such a beauty! A mutated zombie? With intelligence? Bulletproof? Fascinating! Leave it to me. Just give me some time, I'll figure this out!"

Gu Anqing proceeded to explain Huang Ming's situation and recent events to Lu Yisi in detail.

When Lu Yisi heard that Huang Ming had awakened his spatial ability before the apocalypse and stockpiled enough supplies to sustain them comfortably, she felt like she was listening to a fantasy novel. She thought Gu Anqing was joking, her face full of skepticism.

"We had the same reaction at first - complete disbelief," Gu Anqing said. "But we've gotten used to it now. You'll understand once you've been here longer."

Gu Anqing knew Lu Yisi didn't believe her, but she didn't mind. After a few more meals here, the truth would become obvious.

Lu Yisi opened her mouth to speak but hesitated, unsure how to phrase her thoughts.

As they were talking, Liu Shuang'er finished cooking a steaming bowl of beef noodles that looked absolutely delicious.

"Shuang'er, thank you!"

Lu Yisi picked up the chopsticks on the table and smiled gratefully at Liu Shuang'er.

Her mouth watered. It had been so long since she'd had noodles, let alone ones with generous portions of beef. She couldn't hold back any longer and immediately started eating.

Before long, Huang Ming came out from the shower.

Seeing the three girls chatting animatedly at the dining table, he felt the place was becoming livelier and more homey. It gave him a warm, comfortable feeling.

Huang Ming took a bottle of juice from the fridge, gulped down several mouthfuls, then sat on the sofa.

Liu Shuang'er, noticing Huang Ming had finished showering, immediately plopped down beside him.

She picked up the juice on the coffee table and took a few sips herself.

Huang Ming didn't mind. Liu Shuang'er had long considered him her man, and he was well aware of that.

He checked his phone for messages.

Since the male students in the group had started dying one after another, the group chat had become much quieter, lacking its former liveliness.

First was a message from Li Chang'an:

"Ming, I got home safely. Thanks for your hospitality today. Just took a hot shower - feels amazing! Remember to call me for the next mission. I'll definitely pull my weight!"

This fatty was clearly in a good mood after his shower. Huang Ming replied simply:

"Stop with the useless flattery. Just focus on exercising every day."

He then checked the group chat, where only Wang Gang, Ma Tao, Wang Lei, Ji Dayong, Gao Weiwei, Wang Xue and a few other girls were talking.

Clearly they still hadn't realized that eight male students had been killed today by twelve female students through careful plotting.

Their conversation contained no useful information, just idle chatter.

Just as Huang Ming was about to put away his phone, Zhou Ting suddenly sent a message:

"Ming, I know this might be inappropriate, but you've helped me so much. I'll prove my worth. When you saw me earlier, I was so ugly and smelly... I don't mean anything by this. I just want you to see me at my best!"

Attached was a selfie she took right after showering - her hair damp and piled up, wearing nothing but lace lingerie.

Although just a photo, one could immediately tell she had an amazing figure - especially large and pale in certain areas.

"Dammit, that vixen! She's getting bolder by the day!" Before Huang Ming could properly admire the photo, Liu Shuang'er exploded in rage beside him.

Her outburst even made Lu Yisi, who was eating noodles, turn to look at her in surprise.

Gu Anqing just shook her head, clearly aware of some inside information.

She thought this was perfectly normal - in the apocalypse, such tactics were commonplace.

Huang Ming rubbed his temples and replied calmly:

"Zhou Ting, you're a good girl, but you shouldn't focus on this. It only disappoints me. Physical attractiveness is just a bonus - what I need is real capability. You shouldn't have sent me this photo."

"Ming, I know what I'm doing. I really don't mean anything by it. I'll prove my worth - please believe in me!"

"Alright. I'll wait for good news."

Liu Shuang'er, reading their exchange, rolled her eyes thoughtfully.

"You think Zhou Ting could be useful in the future?"

"I'm taking a gamble. Her survival instincts are strong, she's observant, and knows her place. Hopefully she'll find her own path and surprise me. Otherwise it's just a waste of my supplies."

Hearing this, Gu Anqing also sat on the sofa and suggested:

"I think you're doing the right thing by giving Zhou Ting a chance. If there are others like her, we should help them too. In the apocalypse, with just a few of us, everything is inefficient and exhausting! Maybe you should consider forming a small team? Not to join our core group, but as a workforce under us."

Lu Yisi, having finished her noodles, came to the living room and sat beside Gu Anqing, adding:

"Anqing is right. Take bullet production for example - if Anqing could direct a team of workers, efficiency would improve dramatically. In the future when we need labor, we can have them do the work. We need to find trustworthy people, support them appropriately, and have them work for us."

Liu Shuang'er supplemented:

"That makes sense in theory, but the key is finding truly trustworthy people. Otherwise we're just wasting supplies raising ungrateful traitors. There aren't many in Building 10 we can trust, right?"

Huang Ming nodded slightly.

"Interesting points from all three of you. We can ask Zhou Ting about this - she should know who's trustworthy. Don't forget, she's an art student with wide social connections."

As soon as he finished speaking, all three girls gave him strange looks.

Their eyes seemed full of hostility toward Zhou Ting, leaving Huang Ming momentarily confused.

Liu Shuang'er rolled her eyes, realizing Huang Ming had misunderstood, and quickly pulled his thoughts back on track:

"You blockhead, I can tell exactly what you're thinking. Just call Zhou Ting now and ask her about the situation!"

Utterly baffled, Huang Ming could only follow Liu Shuang'er's suggestion. He called Zhou Ting on speakerphone, and she answered quickly.

"Ming, what's up so late?"
