He brought me back to the sand. His breath sagging, suddenly his steps faltered, dropping to his knees. His hold on me loosened, but he managed to gently lay me down before he collapsed on his stomach.
His skin blanched from blood loss, leaving him unconscious.
Blasted!
“Quillan!” He needs immediate help now. But I can’t get some help with me in this state.
I dragged my body to his sides, checking if he’s still breathing, and thankful for the subtle raising and falling motion of his back.
“Help! Somebody!” I know it’s useless to scream, but I just hope the wind will carry my voice to someone.
“Quillan—argh!” My body abruptly thrummed, accompanied by an agonizing pain that shot through every part of my body.
It’s happening again. My body’s changing.
