Jamie tilted his head. This one did not look any older than him, but there was an irritation on her face. “Your channel gets news like this? Shouldn’t it be better to get news from the detective?”
Blythe scratched her head. “No offense, officer, but that detective did not look like he was ready to share anything. He almost killed those reporters at that moment. I am sure a lot of the channels are going to have a field day using that footage.”
She sighs, taking out her phone. “But I am not here for that. My channel wants me to confirm if it is something done by the 100 faces or some copycat.”
A laugh took both of their attention. “So, you think that this might be done by a copycat? I thought CityBeat was already declaring this was done by the 100 faces.”
Alex came out of the darkness on the other side. Usually, his feature would make anyone cower. Also, the reputation of being the mean one in the station is around the city. However, Blythe did not move much; her pupils only shook a bit, but they calmed down to see the man there.
“It is good to see you here, Detective Alex Carter.” She made a small nod. Jamie’s head flinched and returned to see her expression.
‘This girl did not move even.’
“Blythe Throne, I thought I saw you in the corner. CityBeat is sending their best to fix its mistake?” Alex grinned with the cigar in the middle of his teeth.
The smoke was visible from the burning end.
“Sir, do you know her?” Jamie approached the detective.
“She is harmless, Officer Jamie. She is one of the rare ones to listen but arrogant enough not to respect the others.” Alex was still in the same place.
“Tell me, kid, what else do you wish to take from us? Will it be boosting your position this time?”
Blythe scoffed at his words. “Mock me all you want, detective. I am just here to do my job and make my living, nothing more.”
The fight continued between both of them as they had a silent battle.
“Very well kid, ask your questions, but I am not going to let you get in there,” Alex announced, pointing to the scene inside.
Blythe rolled her eyes first, then let out a breath. “Don’t worry; they will only see my writings.”
She had a few questions listed about the murder weapon and the possible features of the murder. Alex was smart enough not to give out too much.
“So, there is not a possibility yet that this is done by the 100 faces yet, right?” Blythe took a deep breath, seeming disappointed.
“No one has seen the 100 faces, so no one can confirm the murder to be the work of the 100 faces. However, it is part of a possibility for the station. We will give out a report as soon as there is concrete evidence.” Alex took out the cigar and let out a bit of the smoke.
Blythe frowned. She does not like the smell of smoke.
“I see, still, what do you think?” Alex groans.
“I can’t think of anything just like that. It is already hard with such murder.”
Blythe cracked her neck to release muscle tension.
“I am curious about these 100 faces; there is a possibility it is 100 faces.” She rocked her body to get warm as her hands went inside the jacket.
Jamie turned around to face her while Alex raised an eyebrow. “And why do you think that kid?”
“I am not a kid, and this is not just a normal person getting killed. Mr. Liam Foster had a lot of illegal work in his hand.” Both of them waited for her to continue.
Blythe turned around to face the expressions on their face. “Don’t tell me you are not aware of this. Mr. Liam has a history of overcharging the prices and even passing illegal constructions. Have you not seen the case of the old coven street? There was an illegal grabbing of property without compensation.”
“And how did you get the information for this one?” Alex did not seem surprised, only pissed.
Blythe at first did not wish to give out information. After all, this is her confidential source, but the faces of them both seem to be troublesome. Blythe blinked a bit trying to understand what was going on.
“Is it like, you do know about it, you are annoyed to know there is more than one source of information bank?” Alex and Jamie both started to look the other way.
“There is information in the police station, but not all is open to the public. It amazes me how you get resources that are confidential, kid.” Alex uttered, scratching the back of his head in frustration.
“I am a reporter; I will have resources, and I am not obliged to tell you anything without any warrant.” Blythe took out the phone again, typed something, and put it back.
“Liam Foster made some illegal steps for the construction work. This is going to be news.” Jamie rubbed his forehead.
“I was getting rumors of this, but there was no confirmation yet. It seems we have to go for details.” Alex laughed as he stated.
“So this serial killer is someone who kills the other side of people. This is something I was thinking of.” His eyes moved to Blythe.
“Thanks, kid, I had a suspicion, and it seems you just gave me clues.” Blythe peeked from the top of her glasses.
“For the nth time. I am not a kid, and whatever you think. I am just doing what gives me payment.” She waved her hand, excusing herself from the area.
Jamie and Alex watched her till she disappeared from their vision into the darkness. “Do you know her, sir?”
Jamie asked Alex. It is not like he was talking about the identity. Rather, Alex seemed to be very comfortable with Blythe. Alex nodded as he twisted the cigar in his mouth.
“I am familiar with her on various cases. She is someone who would arrive to get further details on the cases when things are done and dusted. You should be careful of that one.” He points to the road she took to leave.
“But, sir, you just gave her the information by yourself in detail.” Jamie lifted the yellow tape to let him enter.
“I only gave what the station will present in the morning. That one can get more information by sneaking in from the top as well.” Alex walked in without looking back at him. Jamie felt his mouth drop, still confused about the words this detective just mentioned. He lifted his head to check for drones. There was none; Jamie dropped his head to ask more questions. However, Alex did not let him ask and instead uttered the answer he was looking for.
“She is one of those bionic ones. She can easily climb the tallest of buildings.”
This was enough for Jamie to quickly motion the police stationed around him to approach him. He quickly changed the details of the security and made them recheck the places.
“She has a bionic limb? This is new. I thought all bionic limb-attached people needed to stay away from magnetic fields.” He pointed at the security gate at the corner.
“She knows that, and if she is smart, she will keep her hand away from here,” Alex mentions a car stopped before the yellow tape.
The last screening of the alley will be taken before they open the place again. The men wore hazard suit of silver color while carrying long devices in their hand, holding it like a mop. It is known as a screening detector. It is a device that can scan even the tiniest DNA mark or chemical compound in the area.
The station does this for the last screening of the area. Alex and Jamie stepped aside to let the four men enter the area. The officers stationed put the red lights on the corner that turned on. To show screening process on and no one is allowed to enter.
“Jamie, we all can anticipate from the documents that Liam Foster wasn’t exactly an innocent man. His hand is dirtied by blood or tears for sure. Then a person who stayed neutral and rose up so well. Why would he be here without any escort, that too in this alley? Don’t you think this is fishy?”Alex’s words made Jamie slowly turn to face him. He is made to face a lot of new information today.
“It is a question between the officers as well, sir; we think he was blackmailed to come here. Even the homeless do not enter this area.” Jamie’s head moved around, surveying the area.
