Chapter 48:The Abyssal Dragon's Awakening
The dragon's roar echoed through the massive dungeon, shaking the walls and ceiling as if the entire underground world were collapsing. A pulse of dark mana burst outward, suffocating and overwhelming. The pressure made even standing difficult.
Rio's eyes narrowed. Without a word, he dashed forward into the depths of the dungeon.
"Iris! Retina! Let's move!" he shouted, his voice cutting through the heavy mana.
Without hesitation, both of them followed closely behind. The narrow corridors twisted and turned, each step pulling them deeper into the abyss. The deeper they went, the stronger the aura became.
"I can't breathe properly…" Iris muttered, her eyes glowing faintly as she activated her beast vision. "The mana density here is… insane."
Finally, the path widened, and in front of them stood a massive door—ancient and covered with glowing runes, each one pulsing with magic older than time itself.
"This is it," Rio said, stepping forward. He looked at the center of the door—an imprint in the shape of a human hand. With determination in his eyes, he placed his palm against it.
CCHHHHHRRRRK…
The entire dungeon trembled as the massive door slowly opened, revealing a gigantic chamber bathed in a deep blue glow. Crystals of dark energy floated around the walls. At the center lay a mountain of shattered armor, swords, and bones—evidence of those who had failed.
And there, towering like a fortress, was a colossal blue dragon. Its scales shimmered like polished mythril, each one stronger than steel. Its wings folded behind its back, and glowing cracks of magic pulsed along its body. Its golden eyes opened, piercing through the three adventurers.
Then, it spoke.
"Welcome to the Abyssal Dungeon's final boss room, hunters."
Its voice was deep, ancient, and terrifying, vibrating through their very souls.
"It's been… a whole century since I met humans. And after a hundred years… you're the ones who've come to defeat me?"
It let out a thunderous laugh.
"Let's see what you humans have got."
All three of them stood frozen in place. Even Rio's grip tightened around his sword.
Iris stepped back slightly, eyes wide in shock. "Rio… this isn't just a dragon. It's an Ancient Mythril-Class Dragon. The ones spoken of in legends. Its power is… far beyond anything we've ever faced."
The dragon raised its head high, and the dungeon grew darker, its mana swirling like a storm.
And as that ancient creature prepared itself, the three adventurers stood still, fully aware—
This was no ordinary boss.
This was the test of legends.
To be continued…
