Chapter 2: Wait, Why Does the Cold Prince Look at Me Like That?!
Lying in a ridiculously luxurious bed, covered in way too many silk blankets, I stared at the ceiling in pure confusion.
How did this happen?
One moment, I was fake-fainting to escape Prince Lucian's suspicion. The next, I was princess-carried like a delicate flower and rushed to the palace infirmary. Now, the royal physician was hovering over me, looking concerned.
"Her blood flow seems normal, Your Highness," the old vampire doctor said, pressing two fingers against my wrist. "Perhaps Lady Seraphina is simply… fatigued?"
Fatigued from what?! I woke up in this body barely an hour ago!
Lucian, who was seated beside my bed like a brooding romance novel protagonist, narrowed his golden eyes at me. "You never get sick. Are you hiding something?"
I forced a weak smile. "H-Hiding something? Me? Haha, what a ridiculous thought!"
He leaned in closer. "You are acting suspicious, Seraphina."
Oh god. He was in interrogation mode now. This was how all my bad endings in the game started!
Think! How do I survive this?
1. Deny everything?
2. Pretend to be weak and helpless?
3. Distract him?!
I chose option 3.
I gasped dramatically, clutching my chest. "Lucian… I never noticed before… but your eyes… they're so golden."
Silence.
The doctor froze. The maids in the room went pale. Even the guards standing by the door stiffened like statues.
Lucian's expression? Pure, undiluted shock.
Oh no. Did I say something weird?!
"You…" His voice was strangely quiet. "You've never complimented me before."
Wait. What?
I quickly backtracked. "Oh, uh, I meant it in a totally normal way! Like how one would admire a… lamp! Yes, like a very bright, golden lamp!"
More silence.
The doctor coughed awkwardly. The maids exchanged glances. The guards started sweating.
Lucian's eye twitched.
"Did you just compare my eyes to a lamp?" he asked in a dangerously low voice.
I swallowed hard. "Uh… A very elegant lamp?"
For a second, I thought he was going to end me right there. But then—something completely unexpected happened.
Lucian chuckled.
THE COLD PRINCE ACTUALLY LAUGHED.
The doctor looked like he was about to have a heart attack. The maids were on the verge of fainting. The guards looked at each other as if questioning reality.
I, on the other hand, was having a full-blown mental breakdown.
THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.
Lucian never laughed in the game. He was cold, serious, and emotionally constipated. The only time he ever smiled was in his good ending with the heroine!
Why was he laughing because of me?!
He suddenly reached out, brushing a strand of hair from my face. His golden eyes softened. "I see. So you're tired. You should rest."
What. The. Hell.
Before I could react, he patted my head.
The prince.
The cold, brooding, terrifying prince.
Was patting my head like I was some kind of adorable kitten.
I was too stunned to move. I think my soul just left my body.
"Take care of yourself, Seraphina," he murmured, standing up and turning to leave. "If anything happens to you, I will personally ensure someone pays for it."
Then he swept out of the room like some kind of majestic, dramatic vampire king.
As soon as the door shut, I sat up in bed, grabbed a pillow, and screamed into it.
"WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!"
The maids were trembling. The doctor was whispering prayers. The guards refused to make eye contact with me.
Clearly, I wasn't the only one shook by what just happened.
I flopped back down, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Something had definitely gone wrong.
In the game, Lucian hated Seraphina. He should have been glaring at me, not patting my head and looking at me like I was a delicate little cupcake.
Did I… accidentally trigger a new route?!
If so, I was in BIG TROUBLE.
To Be Continued…

Should I continue with Chapter 3? This is getting fun!
