Chapter 3: Accidentally Flirting with a Vampire Duke (HELP!)

Chapter 3: Accidentally Flirting with a Vampire Duke (HELP!)

After my brain-melting encounter with Prince Lucian, I did what any sane person would do.

I locked myself in my room and refused to come out.

If the cold, brooding main male lead was acting weird around me, then I had one mission—AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS.

Unfortunately, fate (or the game's twisted sense of humor) had other plans.

A Fancy Death Invitation

"My lady, you've received a letter from Duke Alistair Draven," my maid, Lila, announced cheerfully.

I froze mid-bite into my breakfast croissant. "From who?"

Lila beamed. "Duke Draven! He has invited you to join him for tea at his estate this afternoon."

The croissant crumbled in my hands.

Alistair Draven.

The game's second male lead.

Also known as the 'Demon Duke' because he was the most cunning, dangerous, and flirty vampire noble in the entire empire.

I gulped. "W-What happens if I say no?"

Lila giggled. "Oh, my lady! You can't refuse an invitation from the Duke unless you want to offend him!"

Great. Just great.

If I refused, Alistair would probably see it as a challenge and start harassing me for fun.

If I went, I'd be trapped in a room with one of the most dangerous characters in the game.

…Yeah. I was screwed either way.

Tea Time with a Vampire (Not Recommended)

By the time I arrived at Duke Draven's estate, I had mentally prepared myself for the worst.

Unfortunately, nothing could have prepared me for this.

Alistair lounged lazily on a velvet couch, smirking as I walked in. He was tall, with messy dark red hair, sharp crimson eyes, and the kind of smirk that screamed 'I'm going to ruin your life, and you're going to thank me for it.'

"Lady Seraphina," he purred. "How delightful to see you."

I swallowed. Nope. Bad news. He's too hot. Too dangerous. Abort mission.

"Likewise, Duke Draven," I said stiffly, sitting across from him. "To what do I owe this invitation?"

He poured tea into my cup, his smirk widening. "Do I need a reason to enjoy the company of the most infamous lady in the empire?"

I nearly choked.

Okay, I needed to be careful. One wrong move and I could accidentally—

"You're staring at me, Seraphina," he murmured.

My heart stopped. "W-What?"

Alistair leaned closer, tilting his head like a cat playing with its prey. "I know I'm handsome, but if you keep looking at me like that, I might start getting… ideas."

WHAT. NO. I WAS NOT FLIRTING.

My brain shut down. My mouth moved before I could think.

"I was just admiring your… teacup!"

Silence.

Alistair blinked. "My… teacup?"

I nodded rapidly. "Yes! It's very… round."

Lila, my maid, dropped the sugar bowl in shock.

The butler by the door coughed violently.

The room descended into an awkward, painful silence.

Then—Alistair laughed.

"Ah, Seraphina," he grinned, resting his chin on his hand. "You are far more amusing than I expected."

I scowled. What the hell did that mean?!

Before I could escape, he suddenly reached out and touched my chin, tilting my face toward him.

My soul nearly left my body.

"Be careful, my dear villainess," he murmured, voice dripping with amusement. "If you keep making such cute expressions, you might make a man fall for you."

ERROR. SYSTEM FAILURE. CRITICAL WARNING.

I shoved his hand away, standing up so fast I knocked over my chair. "T-Thank you for the tea! I suddenly remembered I have somewhere else to be! Goodbye forever!"

And then I ran.

Like a coward.

The Aftermath (AKA, My Breakdown)

When I finally got back to my mansion, I collapsed onto my bed and screamed into my pillow.

THIS WAS NOT GOING ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPT.

In the game, Alistair barely tolerated Seraphina! He only ever spoke to her when he was insulting her or plotting her downfall.

WHY WAS HE FLIRTING WITH ME INSTEAD?!

First Lucian. Now Alistair.

At this rate, I was going to accidentally seduce the entire cast.

Should I continue with Chapter 4? This is way too fun!
