Chapter 7: How Did I End Up on a Date With the Final Boss?!
I had one goal when I woke up this morning—stay far, far away from Damian Blackwood.
Clearly, the universe hated me.
Because five hours later, I was on a date with him.
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!
Step One: The Fake Boyfriend Plan (That Failed Miserably)
After my disastrous meeting with Damian, I needed a plan.
A simple, foolproof plan.
And like any smart villainess, I came up with the dumbest idea possible.
I would pretend to be in love with someone else!
That way, Damian would lose interest and stop terrorizing my life.
Flawless, right?
Except I needed a fake boyfriend.
And the only idiot available was…
"Prince Lucian!" I beamed, grabbing his arm.
Lucian blinked at me. "Uh. Yes?"
I flashed my most charming, totally-not-suspicious smile. "Would you like to go on a fake date with me?"
Lucian, being the naive, cinnamon-roll idiot he was, actually considered it.
"Hmm. What do I get in return?" he asked.
"I'll give you free cake."
"Deal."
Step one: complete.
Step two? Make sure Damian saw us together.
Which was… too easy.
Because the moment I left my mansion, Damian was already waiting outside.
Step Two: Damian Blackwood Ruins Everything (As Always)
Damian leaned against his carriage, arms crossed, looking like a sinfully handsome nightmare.
His eyes flickered to Lucian. Then back to me.
"Going somewhere?" he asked smoothly.
I grinned. Time to act.
"Yes!" I said, hugging Lucian's arm. "Lucian and I are going on a date."
Lucian, bless his clueless soul, nodded enthusiastically.
Damian… smiled.
A slow, dangerous smile.
Oh no.
"How interesting," he murmured. "I was just about to ask you out myself."
My fake boyfriend plan crumbled instantly.
Lucian stared between us. "Oh! Are you two—?"
"NO!" I blurted out. "Not at all! Never! Absolutely not!"
Lucian, the kind idiot, smiled. "Then it's fine if he joins us, right?"
EXCUSE ME?!
Step Three: Congratulations, You Played Yourself
And that's how I ended up on a date with two men.
One was my fake boyfriend.
The other was the final boss.
And I? I was an idiot.
We sat at the fanciest café in the capital, and I tried my best to look normal.
Damian, meanwhile, looked way too entertained.
"So, Seraphina," he said, swirling his tea. "How long have you and Lucian been… involved?"
Lucian perked up. "Oh! About fifteen minutes!"
TRAITOR.
Damian chuckled.
"How romantic," he mused.
I wanted to die.
Step Four: The Cake Disaster
Lucian, being the sweet fool that he was, tried feeding me cake.
"Say ahh~!" he said.
I turned bright red.
Damian, on the other hand, looked unimpressed.
"If you want to be fed, Seraphina," he said, smirking, "I could do it myself."
CHOKING.
I nearly dropped my fork.
Lucian laughed. "Wow, Damian! I didn't know you were the jealous type!"
I froze.
Oh no.
OH NO.
Damian smirked, sipping his tea. "Jealous? Not at all."
His red eyes flickered to mine.
"I just don't like sharing."
Step Five: ESCAPE. IMMEDIATELY.
I needed to run.
Before Damian got any more ideas.
Before Lucian accidentally killed me with kindness.
And before I accidentally ended up in a love triangle.
So, I did what any mature, responsible person would do.
I threw a muffin at Damian and ran.
To Be Continued…
