Chapter 8: The Muffin Incident & My Imminent Doom
Throwing a muffin at Damian Blackwood was the single worst decision of my life.
And that's saying something—because I have a long history of bad decisions.
Examples include:
1. Getting drunk and calling him a "good vampire."
2. Trying to fake-date Prince Lucian.
3. Throwing a muffin at the final boss of this otome game.
Step One: The Aftermath of Muffin Assault
I sprinted out of the café like my life depended on it (which, let's be honest, it probably did).
Lucian, bless his innocent soul, was still sitting there, munching on cake, oblivious.
Meanwhile, Damian…
Damian wiped the muffin crumbs off his coat and smiled.
A slow, terrifying, "you-will-regret-this" smile.
I ran faster.
Step Two: Hide Like A Coward
I barreled into my mansion and locked my door.
Lila, my wonderful, loyal maid, took one look at me and sighed.
"What did you do this time?" she asked.
I collapsed onto my bed. "I threw a muffin at Duke Blackwood."
Silence.
Then—
"You WHAT?!"
Lila grabbed my shoulders. "My lady. My dearest lady. My idiotic lady. Do you wish to perish?"
I groaned. "He deserved it! He was being—being—smug!"
Lila looked ready to pass out.
"You threw a baked good at the most powerful vampire in the empire… because he was smug?"
"...Yes."
Lila buried her face in her hands.
Step Three: The Unexpected Visit
I was hiding under my blanket, contemplating my life choices, when—
BANG. BANG. BANG.
Someone knocked.
Hard.
Lila and I froze.
Slowly, Lila peeked out the window.
Her face turned pale.
"It's him."
I screamed.
Step Four: Confronting My Inevitable Fate
I had two choices.
1. Jump out the window and flee the country.
2. Accept my fate and face Damian Blackwood.
Lila, unfortunately, dragged me to the door before I could commit international escape.
I opened the door… and there he was.
Tall. Dark. Smug as hell.
Damian leaned against the doorframe, holding something in his hand.
I squinted.
Wait.
Was that…
A muffin?
Step Five: The Worst Revenge Plan Ever
He smirked. "You dropped this."
I blinked. "That's… not mine."
He stepped closer.
"I disagree," he murmured. "You were so eager to share muffins with me earlier."
I gulped.
Then—
To my absolute horror—
He broke the muffin in half… and took a bite.
HE ATE THE MUFFIN I THREW AT HIM.
What.
WHAT?!
I stared in shock.
He chewed slowly. "Hmm. Blueberry. Not bad."
Lila, in the background, was silently screaming.
Step Six: Unwanted Attention
Damian leaned in.
I leaned back.
"Seraphina," he murmured, "are you afraid of me?"
Yes. Very much.
But I had pride.
So I crossed my arms and scoffed. "Pfft. No. Why would I be afraid of you?"
He smiled.
Then—he reached out and brushed a crumb off my lip.
I forgot how to breathe.
"Good," he whispered. "I wouldn't want my fiancée to fear me."
…
WAIT, WHAT?!
To Be Continued…
