Chapter 42: A Villainess Accidentally Gains Another Dangerous Admirer

Chapter 42: A Villainess Accidentally Gains Another Dangerous Admirer

Step One: Pretend That Didn't Just Happen

Seraphina stood frozen.

Prince Adrian Evernight—the coldest, most terrifying vampire prince—had just said, "I'll be keeping an eye on you."

Was this a threat? A warning? A weird vampire way of flirting?!

She had no idea.

But she did know one thing—

She needed to get out of here.

Step Two: Walk Away Casually (Fail.)

Seraphina tried to act natural as she backed away.

"Well, Your Highness, it's been a lovely conversation, but I must—"

Adrian took a step closer.

She instantly stopped moving.

His crimson eyes glowed.

"You're not afraid of me."

Seraphina swallowed.

Oh, she was. She absolutely was.

But fear and pure exhaustion mixed into something resembling bravery.

"Should I be?" she asked.

The prince tilted his head.

"Most people are."

Seraphina smiled weakly.

"Maybe they know something I don't."

Adrian stared.

Then, without another word, he turned and walked away.

Seraphina exhaled the breath she'd been holding.

WHAT WAS THAT?!

Step Three: Get Bullied by Your Best Friend

As soon as she escaped to her room, Lila was waiting.

"So," Lila smirked, "you're collecting princes now?"

Seraphina groaned.

"It's not my fault!"

Lila giggled.

"Oh, really? Because that's exactly what the heroine of an otome game would say."

Seraphina threw a pillow at her.

Lila dodged.

"You've already got Duke Damian practically obsessed with you," she counted on her fingers. "Prince Alexander enjoys teasing you, and now Prince Adrian is interested?"

Seraphina whimpered.

Lila grinned.

"You know what this means, right?"

Seraphina buried her face in her hands.

"I'm going to die?"

"Nope," Lila chirped. "You're accidentally becoming the new heroine!"

Seraphina's soul left her body.

Step Four: Realize You're Doomed

Lila patted her back.

"Don't worry," she said, clearly lying.

"You'll probably survive!"

Seraphina groaned into the pillow.

That was NOT comforting.

How had this happened?!

She was supposed to be the villainess—hated, feared, and ignored by the male leads.

Instead, they were lining up like she was the main attraction at a blood-scented carnival!

She needed a plan.

A way to get through this without dying.

Because at this rate?

She wouldn't need to worry about death flags.

Her romantic admirers were going to kill each other first.

And somehow, Seraphina had a feeling she'd be stuck right in the middle.
