Chapter 51: A Villainess Makes a Dramatic Exit (And Fails Miserably!)

Seraphina had a plan.

Step 1: Storm out of the ballroom.

Step 2: Find a carriage.

Step 3: Disappear into the countryside and never deal with these lunatics again.

It was foolproof.

Unfortunately, fate hated her.

Step One: Storm Out (Immediate Disaster.)

Seraphina spun on her heel and marched out of the ballroom.

She walked with perfect villainess grace.

Elegant. Cold. Untouchable.

And then—

WHAM.

She crashed into a waiter carrying a very large tray of desserts.

SPLAT.

The ballroom gasped as Seraphina stood frozen.

There was now a tower of strawberry shortcake sliding down her dress.

A noble giggled.

Another whispered.

"The villainess… is covered in cake!"

Seraphina took a deep breath.

She had two choices:

1. Dignified retreat.

2. Commit arson.

She was strongly considering arson.

Step Two: Escape (More Bad Luck Incoming.)

Seraphina stormed through the hallways, wiping cake off her face.

"I hate this world," she muttered.

Just as she reached the exit—

"Seraphina!"

She froze.

That was Damian's voice.

Oh no.

No no no no—

She broke into a sprint.

Step Three: Actually Leave (Not Happening.)

She raced down the steps, her carriage in sight.

Freedom!

Then—

A hand grabbed her wrist.

She yelled.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!"

Damian pulled her back.

"Where do you think you're going?"

Seraphina flailed.

"AWAY FROM YOU PSYCHOS!"

Alexander strolled up, smirking.

"Leaving without a goodbye?"

Seraphina screamed internally.

"Yes. Exactly. Goodbye. Forever."

Damian frowned.

"I don't recall giving you permission to leave."

Seraphina gaped.

"OH, I'M SORRY. AM I YOUR PRISONER NOW?!"

Alexander chuckled.

"Not officially. Yet."

Seraphina stomped on Damian's foot.

He didn't even flinch.

Alexander laughed.

"Adorable."

Seraphina groaned.

"FINE! I'LL STAY! BUT ONLY BECAUSE MY DRESS IS RUINED!"

Damian let go.

"Good."

Alexander winked.

"Shall I arrange more desserts for you?"

Seraphina picked up a nearby bread roll and threw it at his face.
